Title: Suzuki RM125T, running, Sold.
Post by: Nathan S on May 13, 2014, 02:34:32 pm
Sold.

Bought this on a whim from a mate, but don't have the motivation.

Was a complete, running, rideable bike until I pulled it apart. Started easily, ran hard, rattled lots in the top end.

Current bore is 0.25mm oversize. Rod has some play.
Lots of spark.
All gears there, shifts fine, clutch works nicely. Gear lever welded.
No sign of case damage, front sprocket cover and mounts all intact.
Sprockets good.
Spokes in rear wheel are loose.
Original rims F & R, with correct late 79 date stamp. Minor crack in rear rim, both good otherwise.
Front tyre is good (Dunlop, ~85%), rear is modern Metzeler, ~85% with some torn knobs.
Plastics shabby - side covers are from something else (81 RM?) and are held on with cable ties.
Good non-original seat cover, foam seems good.

Shocks OK.
Brakes all good.
New grips.
Levers good.
Frame seems good. LHS rear side cover mount has been cut for aftermarket muffler.
Pipe good (one small-medium dent in the header, IIRC). Cheap aftermarket muffler fitted.

Kawasaki throttle & cable fitted, also includes original Suzuki throttle assembly & bodgy cable.
One fork leg has rust in the seal area. Have some good YZ125H(?) forks with good chrome that I can throw in, if wanted (they look like they will work perfectly, but will need spacers for the skinny little Suzuki axle).
New fork boots.

I've currently got the top end off, and the wheels/forks out. I am happy to reassemble it, if wanted.

Bike is located in Yass, southern NSW.
$500.

Photos when I get home. I have some older photos on my phone if you're keen - just send me your number and I will forward them.

Sold.

One of the best twin shock 125's at a great price. With CD just around the corner transport might be easier right now.

Since these photos were taken, the alloy bars have been swapped for straight steel ones (not my doing), I've degreased it, its gotten much better tyres, and new fork boots. And had the Kawi throttle assembly & non-bodgy cable fitted. Along with having the top end, wheels and forks removed.

If the sidestand fits the RM400, then I'm keeping it.
