The Bassani looked and worked okay, honest.
Had a smallish ding in the header that I was heating to pull out while the barrel was off.
after it turned cherry I noted a small hairline crack so I heated a bit more and more hair line cracks appeared.
A small tap with a brazing rod went straight through . After it cooled I gave it a good tap and this is what was left.
An inventive individual seams to have lined the inside of the holy header with muffler putty.
The pipe can be saved with just a new header. I don't think Musket do one for these so a 1 3/4 180 bend will be cut and shunted to it.
Anyone else have expressions of individuality?

It wouldn't get too many dents that's for sure Doc. Reminds me of a set of crash bars that were attached to a GT550 I picked up years ago, all done in inch water pipe and bends.
-
Chris.. that pipe is a work of art .... that would taken hours to get right.
Shane... I had a similar experience with a Pe 250 header a few years ago, It had a small pin hole in it so I thought I would break the oxy out and weld it up ..... as soon as the heat hit it bam it looked the same as yours ::)
-
Atleast these guys didn't own a stick welder
-
In my next life if anyone asks me if I can weld I'm going to say no!
I had these put aside for a thread I was going to call CSI
Hey mate, can you weld up some rust holes for me?

You poor bugger Geoff, how do you keep from bursting out laughing or slapping them. I have a modified frame that fortunately only needs a date with the angle grinder to remove some pigeon poo and jam tin lid gussets that were obviously added for wind resistance.

Priceless stuff...
-
Jeepers Geoff, is that what happened to the tank after you had a go at repairing it?
-
That's called "Jewish Flooding" just happened to destroy 3 years of tax documents the week before the audit... ;D with an insurance report to cover it all.... ;D ;)
-

Yeah, unfortunately my repair was successful and it held water, too much water.
Shoulda just left it at half full
-
I have to admit Geoff I was ashamed to bring the Bulty pipe bits up to the GMC facility but you've modestly omitted to put a photo up of what you created from just about nothing. J PS are you riding on Sunday?

Lets not forget the old faithful bandage

Can you make me a header like this please?
Err no, I don't think I would be able to make a header like that :o

Buggered Maico frames are as common as mud

This front engine mount cross member was smelling and smoking as I cut it out, turned out to be full of bog!!!

Oh yes - the CR125 pipe with the bog in it, the gheck-green KX125 frame, and the green KX125 frame with the headstem welded back on are all mine. ;D
But to make us all feel better, the bright green KX125 at the top of his last post belongs to Geoff himself... because I sold it to him... :o
The saving grace is that NONE of that is my work!
-
Hey, I was trying not to 'out' anyone ;D
Actually 2 of those Kawasaki frames are mine with a third I haven't put up yet, and yes they are still in the queue waiting their turn on the workbench.
One photo I didn't get was the bolt in the piston before it traveled down to you Iain
-
I had no idea there were so many talented "craftsmen" out there with the ability to stuff just about anything they touch.

I on sold that pile to a Yamaha tragic in Vic and forgot to take a photo myself . Ian if you read this could you take a photo and upload it to this thread . Iain

Er, was it a CT1 piston?
-
Er, was it a CT1 piston?
Yes I think that's what it was, it did look like your handy work ;D

I keep trying to warn people about removing dents from fuel tanks with air but there is always 'old mate' that knows it can be done.
It can really distort a tank making them some of hardest things to put right.

Meh. I got second place with that bolt.
And beat Rossco400kg's 2007 model Maico, which is what really matters.
It was one of the tricks OzVMX taught me. :)
