We are now as important as the AMA Supercross (pity about prizemoney though)
-
Hi Supersenior, The name is Ken Baker from Melbourne, I met you at The Nats at QMX Park, we had the Maico that had suspension troubles and couldnt race, my sons name is Shaun. Looking to make another road trip to Harrisville in June, I have a few questions, would it be best to phone you and have a chat ? If you could send a personal message with details I will give you a call.
Thanks Ken Baker
-
PM sent, it'll be great to see you up hear
-
Sup Regs out in a day or so
Anyone coming for the Qld titles or Classic Dirt, why not do both?
Bikes, trailers, vans etc can be left in my gated compound (I'll even wash it for you), or at the homestead at the track, for the days in between the two events.
-
Hi guys, and girls, if any one has any ideas on how to make the track or the facility any better for our up coming events let us no so we can improve it for everyone, there's always room for improvement.....
-
Is like to see a couple of massive step ups included
-
Didn't they only just run the Qld Champs? You know, at the Supercross track ;-)
-
No it was the Maxima/BOLT Australian Post Classic Motocross Championships. MA (not MQ) were the RCB so it was an Australian Championship.
If you want it run in Victoria next year get someone in Victoria to apply to run it????
Sorry Col I shouldn't respond to this.
If you or Greg need a hand with anything RE Lucas Oils Qld Post Classic & Classic Championships give me a call.
Kevin
-

So where we're you?
-
Too far for me to go just to let the locals clean-up a title.
-
There were plenty of NSW riders in the mix and a couple of Victorians...
Best you guys down there get it sorted and run one then.
-
Why "best"? I'm sure something will be run down here in the future. I guess you guys are lucky to have a lot of riders up there, maybe the weather or a good history with an abundance of bikes? Maybe if we combine classic & post-classic we could put something together easier? I still wouldn't expect you guys to come all the way down here, although I guess a few of you did for the Classic Champs in 2010.
I believe a National Championship should be run in at least two central states for it to be fair and a true account of riding caliber, not wanting to take anything away from this years winners, I'm sure they'd win down here, here we might be able to keep them insight ;-)
Anyway we have got off-thread, sorry.

You've said this on numerous occasions.
But you've also said the one just held is too far to go. Why would you want to run two when you and the majority wouldn't go to both or even one? One is almost too many!
-
John,
You don't need to travel to Qld to have a shot at a state title. You only need to come to just north of Sydney.
Although we don't call ours a state title it is widely regarded as the best against the best with all comers welcome.
For Pre 78 we have the CRC ( Crawford River Cup ) which is a all capacity grass track meet run on the Saturday. Two races with the best pointscore taking home the perpetual Ray Ryan Memorial Trophy for one year.
For Pre 90 we have the Evo Challenge run on a full blown motocross track. This race is two 15 minute motos for Evo 125,250,500 Pre 85 125,250,500 Pre 90 125,250,500
With both these meets you get to ride not only the Trophy races but also the normal club round capacity races ranging from Pre 65 to Pre 90 the next day.
Lots of riding for a fraction of the cost of a Nats meet.
-
I said "too far to go for the locals to clean-up". If I wanted to try for a title I would be happier to have a second crack, at those that won in their home state, at another track.
Mr Motocross wasn't run in one state ;-)
I know what you are saying about trying to get more interstaters to travel to two events if they can't get to one, maybe they saw it as I do .... another Queensland Championship?
I'm glad I didn't go if the track was too 'modern' for me, I just tore a tenden in my shoulder while trying a 'step-up' (double jump I think) at the Bonanza the week before, I didn't quite make it, the back wheel caught and threw me over the bars.
We have to face it, in our minds we feel 15, my orthopedic surgeon tells me that the bone density of a 50 yo is half that of a 15 yo, I break & tear body parts now without even crashing, nothing to do with me toughening-up.
Anyway, we are off the thread topic, if you want to continue it we can go to another thread. Sorry Chaps.

Im in top level secret negations with a certain international rider who is flying in and claims to have direct ascendancy from Moisseev himself ;)

Please note that as a state title if you do not have a senior open license you will need to apply for a one event license through your State controlling body, cost $77 please allow two weeks for licenses to be processed, back numbers are also required to be worn.
Look forward to seeing you all there for a great weekend of racing BRAAAAP!
-
Come on guys, get those entries in-less than 3 weeks to close.

I see from your post on the other thread that it seems to be sorted.
-
So Vaughn, if all is clear, russle up those sidecar entries.
-
we had 8 for a session at Harrisville today. Swapped a few riders and passengers about and blew one up (sorry Popeye---had to mention your bad run again)
problem we have at the moment is too many sidecars and not enough riders. We got a couple more triers for passengers and found some good 'uns but we need some more bums on seats.
If you have ever wanted to have a crack and are keen to make up the numbers until you get the gist of it please call either Adam or I or just send a PM.
If you are coming from interstate get in early and book a sidecar.
:o :o :o :o :o :o 8)
-
That's all good, but for anyone intending to ride at this event please get your entries in.
There is a huge amount of work involved in these things, so i'm asking those wanting to ride get the entry in now. Leaving it to the last minute just adds to the workload, so please do your bit to ease the load. As Joe Hockey says "we have to share the heavy lifting" Your share is very light lifting, just 10 minutes to fill out a form.
-
Despite all of my own good intentions, I can't drag people kicking and screaming to sign an entry or pay the fees.
We are currently due to have a pow-wow at Wyaralong to see who can ride with and on what.
Unlike solo racers we have to get 'teams' together that will ride with each other. It's a bit more difficult when you have 2 guys(girls) that can ride or swing but they must feel comfortable with doing that...some are much quicker than others and that creates issues on its own.
We find many that come to sidecars thinking it's easy and they might pick up some brass but when the gate drops it's usually the same crews that are in front.
We are working on it.
As I have said, if anyone wants to have a go driving or passengering we have spaces/outfits available so please contact us.
-
I'll have some entry forms at QMP Sunday. I'll even fill it out for you if you give me the money
-
Entry Sent cant wait, looking forward to it :D
Ken & Dawn Baker
-
We'll have entry forms at QMP this Sunday. Also camping at Harrisville is free for the Qld Titles

Less than two weeks to close of entries. Get in asap to help out the paperwork please.
There will be NO late entries accepted.
-
Seems that some have had a problem getting to Nominate to enter, here is a new link https://www.nominate.com.au/ please let Col or myself know if you have trouble completing your entry, you only have until 6th June, and remember if you don,t have a senior open license you need to apply to MQ or your local state body for a one event license $77, we have tried to keep entries open for as long as possible considering the short amount of time we have had to organize this event,so if you intend to enter please do so ASAP so we can get the program printed and race order finalized.
Regards,
Rob Smith BMCC Administrator.
-
Entries coming in well now. All three Pre75 capacity classes have championship numbers.
Come on you long suspension guys, get with it.
-
Four working days to ensure postal entries get delivered on time.
Seven days to get them in on Nominate.
NO late entries.
-
Last week to get them entries in, numbers are down but coming in slowly, we had Glenn Bell come out and have ride yesterday and he gave the track his approval he said the track was great, if we can get the track in the same condition it was in yesterday it will be fantastic, it was probably the best we've had it..
Hopefully see ya there...
-
Hey Popeye,is Glen Bell going to enter,we really need to get the pre 85 and pre 90 entries up to make these classes worth while!
-
I got my entry in,
very pleasantly surprised by the entry fee, $90, + $10 per class and 1 transponder fee, so ive got 4 classes for $140, just have to prep bikes and try and ride them now!
-
Holmsy has asked him to enter and as far as I no he is considering it he liked the track very much...
-
80 entries and counting. Entries close midnight tomorrow on Nominate, or last post in my letterbox tomorrow
-
Glen Bell has entered, so at least I'll have someone to challenge me now.
-
Yep confirmed Glenn Bell will be riding both of Geoff Holmes bikes CR125 and CR500 both Pre 90 and Geoff is thinking of riding both of Greg Mitchell's Pre 85 RMs so if you don't enter it will be worth coming along just watch Glenn do his thing, it's good to see a few blokes loan out there bikes so we can get of them on the grid....
See ya there it should be a hell of a weekend....
And it looks like after a few beers last night I got talked into getting a 1989 YZ 250 out of the chook shed that's been there for almost 2 years and get it going for next weekend, this will be interesting.
I'll get some pics of where it is and how it looks if someone could them up would be good.....
-
Looking forward to it .........
Entries close midnight tonight (6/6/2014) for anyone that is leaving it till the last minute........ ;)
-
Ok we got the bike out of the shed, it's a mess, it had no front end at all in it no rear wheel but we found all the parts except one rear wheel spacer, it had about half a tank of fuel which I drained out, ran some fresh fuel threw the carb, took the plug out and checked the spark, all good, checked the radiator and air filter and 2 kicks and it went, well bugger me, even sounds like the motor is in good nick, I've taken some pics if someone can post em be great.....

Yep still trickling in at 9pm, nice to get the entries but *&#@+*
-
Last entry staggered in 45 minutes before deadline. Final tally 100 riders, ranging from four teenagers to six Superseniors, first time rider John Webb to champion Glen Bell, and everything and everybody in between.
-
Two hundred bikes from pre60 HJH, Norton and Jawa, to tricked out CR500s. If you want to see a full range of Classic motocross bikes in action, Harrisville next weekend is the place to be.
-
well done col rob popeye greg
looking forward to next week ftw al
-
Update on Glenn Bell he is now riding Pre90 500 and a very nice restored 1978 CR250 red devil in EVO 250. Geoff holms is riding the CR125 1989 in the Pre 90 125.
The Red Devil had never been started till about 4pm yesterday..
Excel rims and DG pipe and Muffler and Mikuni Round slide and a set of Fox Air Shocks, it looks great so it will be interesting to see how it goes.
We've done a lot of mowing and started preparing the track, Greg will probably start watering on Wednesday afternoon hopefully if we get any rain it won't be to much, it will be a great event....

Hi there members,
Well what a fantastic weekend at Harrisville we have just experienced! Congratulations to everyone who received placings in their respective classes.
A huge amount of work went on behind the scenes to make this event happen, thankyou to everyone who lent a hand in preparation, Greg Mitchell, Popeye and team for preparing what has to be one of the best VMX friendly tracks in the country, Col Metcher who without his help this event could not have gone ahead, the new BMCC Committee, and members who stepped up to the plate and got the job done with minimal time for preparation, well done people!
Thankyou to Andrew Davis for his lap scoring, how good is that Mylaps system, if you would like to see your lap times and placings you can go to http://www.mylaps.com/en/events
Thankyou to the local firies who kept us all fed over the weekend and the guy who did the roast pork, how tasty was that, and those smoky roast spuds, delicious.
Thankyou to all the riders who entered the event especially the people who travelled many kilometres to get there, I trust you all had an awesome time.
Cheers,
Rob Smith,
BMCC,
BRAAAAP!

Yep got to agree, if that wasn't one of the best weekends racing we've had your a hard person to please, I put the order in for the weather and the big fella upstairs didn't disappoint, it was brilliant, and to hear people like Glenn Bell, Geoff Holms, Don Nuell, and Col Metcher say that the track was as good a track theyde seen for a very long time made putting in the time and effort all worth while, a big thank you to Nigel Casey, Damian Wykes, Ken Baker, Al and to Andrew McQueen for the lone of the tractor, with out there help it would impossible to put on the event...

Hi all . Sorry I was resting down at the house Sunday arfo and missed the riders presentation . I thank all those who dug in and put $$ in for the repair to my tractor and water cart , it mean's a lot to me thanks , Col Metcher and Rob Smith came by today and handed an envelope to me with your generous response . I shall do my upmost to ensure that BMCC and myself give the Vintage racing punter the best we can . My reward is to see smiling face's from all riders of all age groups ,. Harrisville provides fast , close racing , be it pre 60 or pre 89 . Thanks again see you here next meet in August Greg .

Made the big road trip up from Victoria with a couple of Maico's and the caravan and rolled into Harrisville Wednesday night. Congratulations to Greg, Popeye, Damo, Allan and all the rest, what a fantastic job they did preparing that track. I've been around the scene for a long longtime and I must say that I have not seen anything better, I would strongly urge any Victorians looking to make a road trip etc holiday to attend this meeting next year. Had a wonderful time they are all a great bunch of VMX people. A big thanks for your hospitality and introducing my wife and I to that great ol pub in Harrisville.
Thanks Ken Baker #54

There is already chatter down south of an epic road trip for 2015!
