If it's an Acerbis tank off a Husky or KTM then you are better off searching for another tank that is not as badly stained.

I have tried scraping with a razor blade, bleaching with both chlorine and hydrogen peroxide. Sometimes it helps, sometimes the staining is right through the plastic and can't be removed. I have several tanks hanging in the garage that could not be restored due to bad staining.

Painting is an option ....as a last resort.

I never leave fuel in my white plastic tanks, siphon it out after every race meet.

Good luck

Thanks guys, it's on a Kramit, and it is an Acerbis Tank so I will try your suggestions and see how I go thanks for your help, I thought maybe paint it but we will see.

Yeah, the stain has permeated from the inside - out, so it's not a surface stain but goes through the entire depth of the plastic.

buff it with fine steel wool, sounds harsh but it has worked great on all my plastic tanks (77 yz125, 79klx250)

Sorry to hijack the thread. What's the best way to restore a Honda red tank? Is there a plastic polish? Fine wet sand?

Cutters and a electric buff worked.
