Title: Kx250 power valve questions
Post by: Cabmkr on March 07, 2014, 12:57:19 pm
Is there supposed to be any forward/backward play (1/4") in the power valve governor lever on an 89 KX250 (you can take it out of the colar on the power valve operating rod with no disassembly)

not THAT much mate. if I remember right they had bushes, yours are either worn or non existent, if you cant buy bushes you should be able to have some made fairly easily.

There is a set screw/ locating bolt that stops the shaft from moving by the looks,is that missing?
Dumb question but is the 10mm headed nut part# 92015 not loose ?

Meant to have a look at my 87 but didn't get around to it, I don't recall the bushes but it is definitely too loose.
As Smed says it could be as simple as the lower bolt that holds that arm on being loose or someone may have forced it out in the past and so the arm could be bent.

Thanks for the info guys, turns out the small screw/pin in the case cover, that holds it in place was missing the pin part. It wasn't even broken off in the case just missing altogether. This bike has a few other mysteries that I may need some input on if I keep it  :-\
