Title: KTM 390 1982...Clutch plates
Post by: mitcho on March 07, 2014, 09:54:03 am
Hi this question is directed to the KTM gurus out there... I need to update my clutch .. I have heard that XR 500 plates will fit with a little filling . Also been told KX125 plates will work.  ?  Want to get on with  the modification but not sure which is the best way to go?  Any advice (helpful)
Mitch ;)

MCS motorcycle accessories wholesaler had a dealer parts book with real size clutch plate pics & fitment list, you could just lie your plates on the book & match em up,I don't know if there current book is the same, try your local dealer,he may have the old book ;)

I have used the KX plates in Kato 81 250 , same clutch. Just had to make them a bit deeper between the tangs. Not much just a couple of strokes with a file. Clutch much lighter pull and disencanged correctly and didnt even slip. If it dosent work offer the bike to me as I always have room for one of the most underated bikes out there.

You can get them new to suit the 390 (surefit brand) from Andre at KTM Klassiker and they fit perfect.
I just got some delivered for my 495.
