Title: The Wiltec Ind Conondale Classic
Post by: worms on June 17, 2008, 06:55:00 am
The Conondale Classic is well under way and it will be even bigger than last year, so start planing your trip for what will be two days of great racing at one of the best tracks and venues in Aus. There will be very few changes except to the track, it will be more pre 75 friendly with either jumps being smoothed out or two combined tracks to meet everyones desire. the best option would be to creat a track that will be used as a layout for the Nationals in 2009( still to be confirmed, but if you go by all the chinese whispers going around the QVMX/ Sunshine Coast Motorcycle Club have won the rights.) But back to the Classic, the race format and event programe will stay the same with the highlight being the novelity events on Sunday afternoon ( how good were they). Camping is encouraged with a $10 site fee to cover the cost of amenities with great food available all weekend. The venue is open on the friday for anyone travelling so you can turn up anytime from 9am.

Cheers Trev

just to keep things rolling with the classic , all club members have been emailed with entry forms and all those intrepid vmx fans heading this way from down below and to the north of this piece vmx heaven just go to the QVMX site and you can download entry forms, there is a closing date for entries, which is a help with planning, but you can register on the day at an extra cost, so dont sweat if it is a last minute decision to come and race, just come and you will have the best time.  ;D

Trev, I wouldn't be too worried about having to alter any jumps that are at Connondale, they're all good fun there, its usually the braking & acceleration stutters from the 'modern' bikes that give our old (pre75) dungers a hard time. Jumps are usually not such a big deal, you can figure your own way over them - hard or slow, but bad stutters with hard suspension is rough any way you hit it.

Looking for my web entry form now.

we will be doing everything we can to make sure there is no flat landing spots , there where a couple last year and have taken on board comments made. Holeshot is in charge with imput from Mitch and other pre 75 riders so its up to them to get a track to suite all riders.

Even as a novelty event last thing on day two type scenario, can we, huh, huh?!

Campervan booked, and flying in on Thursday the 7 August with a few parts for the bike. With John the "Asasin" coming with us we will have to enter a "Team Kiwi" in the teams race. Can a team have all 125cc bikes??
Looking forward to the meeting and having a catch up with everyone.

a kiwi team, now there's a thought. another team to beat Magoo's blues, i will see what we can do. now as for the moto 100cc if i get the interest in numbers via the forum, i will need at least 15 bikes to make it worth while, i might arrange a novelty event on the sunday for a bit of fun.

we have had a awesome response to nominations, so dont delay and get your entries in.

i will start a new thread for the nationals early next week, but if you want a sneek preview of the track get onboard for the classic as this will be close to the track being used for the Nationals in 2009, all you pre 75 guys who thought the track was too hard on your bikes last year, modifactions are under way to rectify this for the classic so give us the feed back we need to make this venue the best in Australia for all Classic Motorcross classes

Cheers Trev 8)

If the teams are for where riders are born and bred my estimations will be Victoria (10), N.S.W. (75), NZ (8,467), Qld (1).

I always thought you had 2 dicks Billy my boy, you certainly couldn't be that silly playing with one. Even our Rugby coach is a Kiwi!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to catching up with you boys again for round 2.

ok guys and gals

if your wondering whats happening with the Classic its full steam ahead, just thought i would give space to the CRC event before pushing the Classic to much. the track and site looks great at the moment with plenty of rain falling and creek flowing nicely for a early morning dip, theres plenty of action planned for this year again with an extra round of racing squeezed in for all you die hards who just cant get enough.

anybody travelling is welcome to arrive friday and set up camp and if your lucky i will scrutineer your bikes to free up a bit of time on Saturday, there will be a promt start time of 8.30 for riders brief and practice by 9.00 am on Saturday so dont be late as we will finish scrutineering by 8.30am.

i must thank our major sponsor,Shane from Wiltec Ind for chipping in again, cheers mate.

please get entries in by the 25 July to save some dollars, rather than entering on the day and so we cwork out catering for the event.

just a little side note for the 2009 Nationals our Dates for the event have been approved for the Friday 31st July and the 1st and 2nd August, so stay tuned as we go into planning at the end of August and please go to the web site for any info that comes to hand.

Cheers Trev( Worms Racing Team)

Snake aggression is overrated; look at this little fella giving his handler a hug!
No need to worry as Carpet snakes aren't poisonous (and neither are sharks...).
This photo was taken in Brisbane about 5 years ago.

hey dj

hopefully we wont have any crocs about but i cant promise about the snakes and spiders, there is a really big type spider out this way, know as the bird eating spider, but dont worry they only like pelicans and they are all out west for the winter. ;D.

i will talk about snakes when you come, but hey i am know as the wormhunter and catch worms that are up to 1.5 metres long, maybe i will catch a few for your tents ;D

Im a bit concerned :-\ as i checked the supplementarys for Conondale and i cant find any thing about Drug or alchohol testing  ???

In case iv'e missed something i would like to let the organisers know that i will be available to test any Alchohol or drugs they wish to have tested .

Over 40 years experience in this field  :) and results available as soon as im coherant again.

I realise you will have your own experts in these fields , but it doesn't hurt to have an independant tester on site  :)

Gaday bigtoe

Yes,
you can nominate to race your 4 stroke in its normal bike class ( eg evo, pre 85 or pre 75 ).
Depending on the number of 4 strokes that are nominated on the day, and as per gsr's, then there will be a individual 4 stroke race. This is what normaly happens at our qvmx race days.

The seperate 4 stroke race, will be decided on the saturday once bike numbers have been finalised.

Hope this helps you.

How has the weather been looking over there? Is it cold, wet and windy? Or is that just here(NZ). With just two weeks to go I'm looking forward to having a ride on my bike and catching up with everyone. So who is going to be there?

It's been a tad cold DJ, but not NZ cold. It has been wet for the past week but rain in a Queensland winter is un-seasonal. We do traditionally get winds here in August.
A Qld winter is pretty good; warm days and cold/fresh nights.
As winters go ours are very tolerable - nothing for you to worry about considering where you're from.

I believe that's the guy from up B'berg way..his name eludes me for the moment but he had a stack of stuff on offer at reasonable prices, if you look close you can see an RM125N/T barrel in the pile along with an early B model RM muffler that came home to live here and I think Brent even scored a pair of TM125 sidecovers from memory. He had a photo album with him with many different bikes he'd owned over the years. Interesting bloke, I have his number somewhere if you interested in the PW50 Wombat  :D

Classic update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 hi everyone

What an event this is going to be, with over 120 pre nominated riders and a further 60 who will enter on the day bringing with them well over 300 classic bikes to Conondale, it will be just awesome. The weather here is brilliant and the long range looks good for being fine right thru till after the classic, it will get cold at night though so come prepared.

i am looking forward to racing this year after having to sit out last year, so watch out for the Worms production bikes, known to hate the colour green. ;D

Cheers Trev

How wet is the track at present. I've got the use of a set of soft terrain Shinko's which are like claws in the mud but don't like hard ground.

Good tyres won't make me any faster but might make me fall off less ;D

you should have no problems as it'll grip the grass real sweet too!

the guys from Green Park have prepaired the track for a great weekend of racing, it has been wet here but it looks like fine right through till after the event, so it should be dry but not dusty, im sure there will muddy sections through out the track just to make the Kiwis and Victorians feel at home.

funny about the Victorians, they all live here in sunny qld, like for ages, but oh no we cant ride for you blokes, turncoats come to mind, ;D hey Russ and Bill.

I was up at the track yesterday having a a look around and there was a lot of standing water in areas from the rain we have had but the top was very dry. The forcast this week is for wind which will only dry it out more. I would think under the top layer there is moisture but will need some water put in before riding. Venue looks a treat green as and looks like being a top weekend for all who are riding and turning up ;)
