Making a start on a Early four speed using a std frame as a base, this is a quick mock up , Big Question do I fit a small front brake or go with the US style no brake .

Are you using a 4speed Stiletto engine?
-
use the std ossa small brake,(apart from 090's 8)),it's as good as not having one ;D ;D, :P
-
Yes a 4 speed Stiletto motor as in the Photo but with the correct barrel, mock up has a SDR fitted , build will have a bolt up carby
The small Ossa trails front brake assy I have Which type of 18 inch rim ,Mudcatcher or go with a Phantom rear wheel and match the later alloy rim for the front
Have a set of straight fork yokes to tuck the fork in ,as I do not want to cut the frame
Cheers

The Stiletto has a good spread of power, not a great top end though. As I think they advertised - "Faster than some, Quicker than most". When you've finished playing around on flat dirt with the Ossa, I've been looking for a new project, and I've always liked the Stiletto, the 4spd suits pre70 very nicely.

Murray I'd lose the Maico tank. They're too easily identified as being from a Maico and detract from the bikes OSSA origin, putting the "is it a cut down Maico" thought in the viewers head. I'd be searching eBay for some stiletto bodywork or alternatively aftermarket flat track 'glass. Match Mick can help with much of that stuff. The early Dick Mann bikes are gorgeous.....and work well. I don't know how handy you are with a hacksaw and Oxy set but bringing in the steering head to 25-26 degrees will help it turn better but that mods only for the deadly serious and not totally necessary. You can achieve a similar result by running longer rear shocks to raise the rear and bring in the fork angle a tad. Do you have dirt track racing on your side of the island? If your tracks have stop corners, I'd have a front brake but if you use a full oval speedway style track a spool hub would be the go. Even though it's a 5 speed Phantom based bike, I've got a shot or two of Phil Youngs OSSA flat tracker which is extremely effective over here and will give you a good idea on chassis set up. I'll try and dig it out.

That's funny....and true. They've got a well formed reputation as the worst of the worst of front brakes. I have one on my DT1 from Hell.....fluck knows why ;D.

I have a few brand new moulds and tanks that I was going to take to Mick but have not had time.
The T500 needs a tank to be finished

Here's Phil Youngs lethal Phantom based flat tracker that was built up from a basket case ratbike I found somewhere or the other. I had plans of restoring it back to original but Phil had a much better idea.

Thanks for the replys
Over here in the West NO dirt track, or anywhere to ride a flat track bike, as we only have one very small true bike speedway venue.
So the Ossa is just another of my projects, love the Early DMR Ossa one sweet ride :)
You are right Firko the coffin tank looks Maico but it is very small and Alloy
Have replaced the SDR barrel and carby with Early 4 speed bolt up top end .
SON on your post do you have a DMR tank or something else to suit in f/glass ??
This is only a rough mock up of ideas at the moment at I still have to finish the Alron on the bench 8)
