Just looked at a bike with no vin. Wanting to know if you can find out a year model by an engine number. Trying to work out if the bike is an 89 or 90 cr500.
The original rims say 6/89 so I would say it is an 89 but...

this might help? not sure if it refers to engine or frame.

If the rims read 6/89 then it's most likely a 90 model going on how early each year's bikes are released, that only really counts if the wheels are the ones that the bike left the factory with & not a pair fitted at a later date

My Honda book says 89 CR500 eng # PE02E-58*****
90 CR500 eng # PE02E-59*****

I thought all 500's started with a "5" and the second number changed each year..

I looked at a CR500 today. It had the frame plate, plate said build date 7/89, 1990 Model.
