Okay my experienced friends, some advice please.
I thought changing a kickstarter oil seal, without taking the case off, would be straightforward, but it does not want to come out easily, and I am very aware of those soft magnesium cases.
Is there any 'trick' or special tool?
 Thanks
 Ken

can you get a small flat screwdriver on the outer edge and punch it in a bit so it will release from the housing? then put a hook on a piece of fine wire and pull it out.

				Thanks John, will try that.

You can buy a tool called a seal pick that is just for this job. Try your local bearing supplier or if that fails ebay.

That would be to "professional".. plus he cant put a huge score mark in the seal well so it weeps for ever and a day.....

Why not just lay the bike on it's side, take the cover off and flick the seal out with a screw driver.  It will take less time than discussing it on the forum.  Get the seal from a bearing service a lot cheaper than from bike shops.
