Title: DT250 cylinder [odd one--or a TRICK]
Post by: OverTheHill on February 07, 2014, 05:05:54 pm
Got me stuffed--& i've been stuffed lots [in my dreams]. Anyway, looking on 'FleaBay' & put in yamaha dt2mx jug just to see what came up--just doodling, & there's a Dt250 cylinder with a water pipe atatched above the exhaust port where say a decom valve would fit on a 400 but can just read 246? on the cylinder so assume it is 250. See what ya think!!. auction number is 201031421868 headed "Yamaha DT250 79 Cylinder Jug". Maybe i'm just having a bad 'thinking day'--Cheers.

That is a bit strange, what the hell does the little water pipe do?

I reckon its had a automatic decomp fitted to it like a motor mower one to allow a 5 year old to start it to get his dad home from the pub ;D

God i'm just sooo smart [i googled it!!]. It's an emission thingy that lets air into the exhaust to umm help emission for some restrictive markets. looked on the parts site & shows the fitting so not really knowing where to go next [no radiator] i found a seperate little airbox along with the bigger aircleaner--so googled it & all was explained--albeit briefly. What got me thinking along those lines is i have a 50cc 4 stroke chinese kids quad in bits [actually a kawasaki with chinese original motor] & has a similar thing leading from the exhaust port [valve area] to [something that controls air into it] Live and learn--i'm sure you all knew that anyway. Cheers.
