I am in need of at least one but preferably two rear axel nuts to suit a 75 Husky. Im guessing they are an unusual size as I cant find a nut that fits??? Maybe M15 which I believe is no longer made :-\ :-\
-
What pitch?
-
Looks to be about 1mm
-
I think they are M15x1.5, found some overseas but are expensive and would rather get them from Oz if I can!
-
Psst Kenny,,, Axel nuts be my grandsons (Axel) knackers, Axle nuts are the threaded thingos that stop your axle and therefore your wheels coming adrift at somewhat inopportune moments, creating vast amounts of pain, suffering and later hmm shit stirring ;) Cheers Tim754
PS your local nut and bolt supply should have lovely fresh castellated ones in stock, for about $4.00 each, or $15.00 for stainless steel. :)

Yes I saw the error in my spelling as soon as I posted but was feeling a little to lazy to fix it!!
I have been to my friendly nut and bolt supplier who informed me that M15 is no longer made.... :-\

Yes, I thought you were talking about an African American nut in the movies

After using a pitch gauge I found that they are M15 x 1.25 and can't locate them at any nut and bolt shop! Anyone got a couple of husky rear wheel nuts they would like to sell??
-
Try http://www.partsyahoo.com/NUT-M15X1-25-p/125-382.htm yeah from the USA but sounds like the ones. cheers
Or perhaps this company http://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_nuts.aspx?nv=rel
Or maybe this Aussie business that I have had success with over the years
Bendigo
Bolts & Fasteners Pty Ltd

I was in bendigo yesterday, tried them because I was there, no luck! HVA factory has them but at €19 a pop I'm sure I can find an alternative!! I'll try the others you suggested!
Cheers

Just a little heresy - cut a new more common thread onto the axle - be cheaper than 19lbs (sorry, don't have a pound key).
-
How common are these nuts? If you're keen to source and see a need for them in the wider market go to any engineering shop with a CNC lathe and have them make 20 or so then get them zinc plated, average out the cost plus a bit for the effort and you're in business.
Alternatively ask around your mates for someone who has a lathe in their shed and ask them to make one. Then get it zinc plated.
-
Get a machine shop to whip you up some new axles with a more conventional thread size

Have you e-mailed Huskyjunk or Vintage Husky?
Not all small parts like that end up on websites for sale

Out of interest I tried Lee Bros and Boltmaster in Sydney for you and no luck.
I think cut down existing axle thread and die cut a new thread to suit 14mm, tap out a 14 nut to suit if you can find a tap or new axles machined up.
All that or pay the big dollars seemingly.
Cheers

Thanks to all for the help!! You would think it would be that hard to get a couple of nuts, or that Husky axle nuts are so hard to come buy. Im waiting on a few emails from ppl in the US, failing that I can buy the complete axle/spacer/nut from evilbay US, guess ill have a few spare bits and peices!!
-
You can buy them at any good supplier of nuts and bolts.
a local machine shop can also knock them up
used both methods over the years
