Title: Front Brake Levers for Drum

Does anyone know of any front brake levers and perches that give a longer cable pull over a OEM TS or TM250 set?  As of right now if I adjust the front brake to get good stopping power, the wheel drags.  If I get rid of the drag, the bike doesnt want to stop.  Suggestions?

Hi ninjamk,
Sounds like you have a stretched outer cable that is acting like a spring being compressed when you apply lever pressure.
Also your shoe friction surface may not be running concentric to your drum.

Scour your brake shoe surface, reassemble, LIGHTLY apply your brake while wheel is rotating. Check for the witness of shinny high spots. Don't over apply. Or you will flex the shoe and create false witness.
If it shows consistent even witness all over your linings,,,,than outer cable stretch is most likely your problem.

It is important not to accidentally stretch your outer cable by mishandling during removal or replacement.

NEVER pull or yank on it to get it out of perch adjuster whilst inner nipple end is still attached to the lever.

Thanks Mick, I will take a look at the shoes.  The cable is pretty new, only has about an hour on it, guess that could still the the issue.  What if the wear is uneven, new shoes?

Cables are sort of like everything else, you sort of get what you pay for. Some of the dearer ones are very good these days. OEM Suzuki is not too bad though.

Shoes are cheap.
A full healthy lining immediately improves the outcome.
