I guess this is the place to ask silly Questions from reading the sup regs.
Q1
No Knobbies Allowed over 85cc/150cc Juniors"
I assume this only applies to the rear tyre ?

Q2
If i have an XT /TT 500 that I intend to enter in the championship classes
Do I have to pay the extra $80.00 to enter it in the support class or just an extra $20.00 for an additional class?

Cheers
Noel

Howdy Guys,

Have had a quick glance at supp regs for upcoming Dirt Track Nats at Canberra and it would seem that there is someting there for everyone (title & support) so I guess it's up to us now.

Hi Noel, no knobby tyres over 85cc/150cc is rear only, front is ok
once entered a championship class, your second, third, fourth classes are only $20.00 extra
If like a enquiry I had today, I entered in the xt/tt 500 support class it would cost $80.00 plus $20.00  for each extra support class I enter, not my $80.00 for the support class plus $20.00 per extra championship class, hope this helps
ACTMCC wish to advise also the championship class cost is expensive due to ambulance and permit costs for this event, the ambulance and paramedic costs for this event is 3 grand alone

Yep, I'll be there. Entry in the mail soon. Track was looking good yesterday when I went out there, it should be a great show alright. I heard you were thinking of a show and shine on the Saturday Pat? I'm sure plenty of the guys coming along would have some nice looking restos to show off, even if they are race bikes. Heck, even my TM is pretty shiny still.

Let's hope we get at least as good a rollup as last year's event at Wagga!

Not sure about practice days, there must be at least one more. Next club race day is 3 August, I am trying real hard to have the TM on the track in time for that.

Well, it's now just a few weeks until the 2008 Classic DT Championships here in Canberra. The local club have been putting a lot into this event with particular attention to making the track just right on the day. It should be a top weekend - it's a fun track to ride and spectators have a great view from the top of the circuit.

From what I've heard, entries have been pretty slow. Remember, closing date is only a week away (14th August), so you should get into gear and send that entry away right now. You can download the supp regs/entry from the DT Championships page here: http://www.ozvmx.com/whatson/08-dt-nats.htm

By the way, if you don't have a national licence and want to use a one day competition licence, you'll need to get the paperwork in asap as MA require 21 days to process. If you add that to post times and other admin overheads it means you probably need to send in your entry and application right now to avoid things going pear shaped.

Even I (notoriously late enterer) am going to enter today. Haven't got a going bike yet, but hey, whats a national event without getting the bike finished the night before? My big question is, do I have any competition in the Pre 75 125cc stakes? Now, given my DT riding ability extends to being able to actually complete most of the laps in a race, and I am on a TM125 that has so many things changed on it that I have no idea if it'll even go, I'm kinda hoping for no other entries. Anyone racing in that class?

I guess that Mr Meyers will be riding in every class they have, so he *might* be a source of competition. I'll make a public plea - Dennis, wear a NEW jersey!!! I have photos from races in 2002 where you were wearing that rotten old blue one.

Wish I'd kept one of my TT500s, I'd love to have a ride in the support class too. Still, it'll be good to see a whole bunch of the old thumpers out there on the track. Any takers for that class?

By the way, I've heard they are trying to organise decent temperatures for the day. Hope they have some luck with that!!!

as well as the pre'78 CR125,
unfortunately may not have the pre'75 250 back together after doing yet another gearbox at CRC,
Cheers

Not sure about the program - the regs say practice and racing both days. Maybe Pat will clarify?

Next step? Send in your entry, then come on over. Accommodation is up to you, plenty of places to stay right near the track, camp over if you are real tough (it's cold at nights - probably anything from 0 to -4).

There's a link to some accommodation info on the DT Nats page:

follow that road all the way to the end, about 15 ks and turn right
about 200 meters on the right is the entrance to fairburn park, you will see the sign, cheers Pat Pither

Hi lads,

I've designed a souvenir T-Shirt for the Classic Dirt Track Nationals 2008 in Canberra.

If anyone is interested, let me know asap and send me a PM and I'll get them printed up and take them with me to Canberra next weekend.
The price is $25.00 and they will only be available for this weekend - no longer...

Here is the shop page if you can't get to Canberra: http://www.red-devil-racing.com/0/t-shirts/vmx-t-shirts/t-shirt-the-classic-dirt-track-nationals.html (http://www.red-devil-racing.com/0/t-shirts/vmx-t-shirts/t-shirt-the-classic-dirt-track-nationals.html)

Cheers,
