Title: decomp valve for 86 ktm 500
Post by: worms on February 03, 2014, 08:03:39 am
Has anyone got ideas on how to do this as it is water cooled, already has 3mm base gasket, and cant alter head gasket, Ive had a sleeve cut in exhaust port and still has way too much compression for this old fart, any ideas other than selling it?

Cheers Mike, what type of decomp is that and where would I get one from, I would go with the second option I think.

Top one is easier to reach with the Husky drop down tank.
Both those photos are WR400's with a tendency to break feet.
I got my deco's out of some place in the USofA but I've forgotten where.
They are made for Harleys.
Remember to design the hole to be smaller than the valve at the piston end just in case.
Also you have more air to shift with the 500 so a bigger size might work better.
Get a bit welded on to the head as in the top photo if you don't have enough room/thread.

All these ebay ones look fine.
