There's a crowd in the UK selling what I reckon is one of the best deals going for sx afficianados - 'the worlds best supercross races' dvd collection. six double-sided dvd for chrissakes - that's 22 hours of viewing! region free code even! after going bug eyed for most of the long weekend, i'm only on to the second disc!
ok, its mostly US stuff, but its got real historical value, going from the 1975 Superbowl on each year (nearly) into the eighties when it shows a few of the best sx races from each year, up till the late eighties. its fabulous! it shows the changing of the guard from the europeans to the yanks, to mike bell, then to hannah, then broc glover, then dave bailey, then the big duels he had with ricky johnson, throw in wardy and you got some just incredible races.
intrestin to watch the evolution of track design, bike technology and riding style. by '85, wardy was backing it into corners on his rear disc-ed kwaka, and everyone was tripling jumps. but what they had not yet worked out was mid air corrections - meaning lots guys flipped or nose dived regularly - all caught on good quality video!
best thing, they're going for like ten-fifteen bucks.

Sounds great! My kind of thing!! I reckon I'm as excited as you are Twisty!! but, but...where the hell is their site?
-
Dunno about their site but the DVD is on eBay. The seller is fishchipsuk. I just got mine this morning, 22 hours of the 'World's Greatest Supercross Races'. That should really make the family happy! I think I've seen this DVD advertised in the Yank mags a little while back.

and for those of us NOT on e-bay the name of the site is.......???
Anyone, anyone??
C'arn Twisty, please. Where did you get it?
-
Not on ebay??? You poor lost soul!
-
I'm just not trusting enough; I read the tales of woe and rip offs and sniper programs to nip your bid blah, blah.
I'd rather just buy from something a little more reliable.
Though I did by a bike via a friends account...

I have the original copies of said DVD's there is 5 double sided DVD's and is the best footage you will ever see of supercross from the first ever superbowl to the 1988 season. It was a series hosted by Larry Huffman called "On two Wheels" and the footage contains a lot of unseen stuff like rider interviews, heat races, Doug Demokos's famous trike wheelstand up two wire cables above the Pontiac superdome ect.
If you guys are interested PM me and I'll see what I can do.

if you are looking for a GP or mxdn i have over 40 titles.

Yes They are a great watch, and its just amazing how fast they are going.
-
They're definately great viewing, some footage of Leisk in there with them towards the end.
There was certainly a lot more bar-banging going on as Supercross evolved. Rick Johnson sends Jeff Ward over the haybales and straight into the camera man in one incident.
The only downside on some of the footage is Larry Huffman's commentary in the 80's races. He has some "clever" catchphrases that he uses over and over and over...............
Another highlight is the guy interviewing Marty Smith right at the start. Looks like he just come in from MC'ing the local high school Prom night.
-
Theres a fair bit of early supercross footage, including the all time greatest race between Bailey and Johnson, as well as some TV interviews with riders such as Marty Smith on youtube. Might have to poke around a bit to find it all, but it can easily fill in an evening. Nothing like having a CD at your fingertips, and the quality is only so so, but worth look I reckon if you need a fix of that stuff.

our pack of 5 dvd's arrived this arvo..
some excellent racing and the crowds/packed
great stuff :o
and some guy trying to fly with kite wings, what a laugh :D
-
yeah, that was the other fun bit, seeing all the eighties SX spectator gimmick acts - the 'sphere of fear' (with not just two bikes going round inside but their pretty female assistant in there too holding flags which they pluck from her as they spin round and round....), doug domokos wheelying a honda trike along two tightwires, and various stunt riding variations.
evel got em going, and no doubt they all made a buck or two from it - more than they would flogging themselves across a set of gnarly whoops!

watching another one now,as boy child has had his wisdom teeth so is a lounge lizard.
Boy child is saying Bob Hannah could of done a better tail whip than that ;) :D
One of the flaggies was so excited about a pass on the track he forgot to wave his flag at the accident unfolding. ;D real classics happening in the back ground.
Track feels like tooth paste, the whole scene was different/head cam where pretty big then too ;D
Our local club is heading up to the SuperX in Perth in November, should be awesome
