Hi Gents
I am looking for some advice. I have a duplicate Maico Alpha 1 single shock 250 (completely restored). I have a part restored Maico 440 frame without a complete motor ( do have cases, barrel, head). I have considered using the complete 250 single shock bike as a donor bilke and converting it into a twin shock Maico 250cc.
Obviously the motor and frame will not match, The motor is from an 1982 single shocker, the frame probably late 70' S.
Any suggestions ?
Alternatively will the 440 barrel slip onto the block of the 250 ? Do the motor swop with the 440 barrel, head and pipe ?
Once again any suggestions ?
Many thanks
Gavin w :)

The '81 & '82 motors have a different stud spacing where the cylinder bolts to the cases , compared to the earlier motors . But an '81/2 490 cylinder will bolt onto '81/2 250 cases . They also changed the stud spacing again in '83 for the primary gear drive motors . I think Wulfsport in the UK sell a frame kit to convert '82 single shock frames back to the '81 twin shock setup.

find a 78/79 frame and do the franken bike thing ,the later engine bolts straight in is the 82 250 a reed engine
