Title: Fuel Cap
Post by: Tony T on January 29, 2014, 08:15:52 pm
I've got a Malcolm Smith tank with this cap on it.

It looks suspiciously like a Husky item. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
It leaks a little so I'd like a newer vented cap that will fit this tank and thought that might be a good starting point.
Thanks in advance.

Cawi gas cap.

Beauty, it's got a name.  :D
Any idea where I'd buy one in Australia?

Edit: just found them listed with Les @ VMX Unlimited, but he hasn't got stock.
Anyone got a good one they would sell me?

Thanks mate. Have a look at some stage and let me know. This was the cap the tank came with and I only really looked at it when it leaked.

According to VMX Unlimited, the ones they sell are the same for Maico, KTM and Husky.
So it may well work.
Is it possible that it's internally vented?
Anyway, I'd like to give it a go and if it doesn't end up working, I can send it back.
I'll send you a pm.
Ta.  ;D

Ive got a new one that I got with a heap of KTM parts a few years ago, sorry i need it for the Husky I got from you though ;) penton parts has new ones for $40 USD which is a bit to much $$$$. The best price I found is:

I purchased some things from him a few years ago with no issues (if you cant get one here).

The caps are vented thru the crinkle underside around the egde.... later Husky caps  , say 81 onwards came with a vented cap.. you can get stainless caps that fit and look very similar but are half the price of a Cawi.. I bought mine from a mob called BB Classics in the UK ..cost about 8 pounds....Opel Ascona Replacement Oil Filler Cap Like Chrome
