Title: Airbox boot
Post by: vmxken on June 11, 2008, 03:55:51 pm
Hi - does anyone know of a bike that has an airbox boot that is 100mm at the airbox and 50mm at the carb, and, where the back of the carb and airbox are practically adjacent?

Thanks

Ken

I think some Maicos have a similar setup. Take a look at this item on ebay for an idea 230260044844

Thanks Doc, that does look like it would be close (if a bit long).  I'll check the dimensions with one of our friendly Maico shops.

Any others out there?

CV Boots work well and you can cut them to size

Thanks Ross for the Monty info, sounds perfect, which model exactly?  I've used CV boots before (not on this bike) but can't find one that reduces size that quickly.

And Lozza, front/back, I gather you must have understood what I was trying to say???  I'll do better next time I promise.

Thanks

Ken

Another option which is a bit outside the square , but might be cheap fix , is the junction rubber between a toilet bowl & the 50mm water delivery pipe . I think that the diameter of the inlet on the porcelin bowl is around 90 mm , so the rubber  might stretch to 100mm .

I knew I'd seen something somewhere that might fit - indeed, it is that fitting on the toilet.  Damn good idea if the Monty one doesn't work.  I've sent an email already to Jared.

There's a bike in Issue 34 by the way that uses some plumbing parts so I wouldn't feel too alone.

No worries Lozza, it did make me stop and think!

Just ordered one from Jared.  He's replied already with the dimensions and it is a touch smaller but it's worth a try.

Thanks everyone.

I can't think of anyone more appropriate to have a toilet part on his bike than you Kenneth.

Too true, as my usual riding style.....'can't ride for shit' will take on a whole new meaning.
