Title: Fin repair
Post by: mainline on January 05, 2014, 07:16:47 pm
Has anyone had any luck 'glueing' broken bits of cylinder fin back on? It's only a kids bike so the expense/hassle of welding it is off-putting, but it looks a bit povvo with the broken fin as is.

Cut the fins off Paul. Seems to be all the rage in other topics

The BRAZILLIAN BIKE. Catchy, don't you think.

Might be a bit 'wrong' on a kids bike though Ted?

If I keep knocking the poor bloody thing over in the shed it won't have fins anyway.

Maybe some liquid metal might work I'd try the liquid metal but I wouldn't just do it in the crack I'd overlap it a bit there is a fair amount of vibration I think even some of the heat proof two part exopys might work for you, thanks Michael.

Cheers Michael,  yeah I didn't want the broken piece to heat up and fall off somewhere. At least it's a relatively easy fix at the moment.  I don't want to have to replicate a missing piece.

Ah ok, I thought he was saying it stuck like a stalactite??

Anyhow,  I googled stalactite glue (I can't believe google offered that text suggestion as I typed??) but all I could find was people wanting to repair their broken stalactites? Didn't realise it was such an issue.
