After becoming tired of it getting in the way in the garage and coming very close to selling it I've decided to actually use the Hindall Ducati for what I originally built it for in 2014. I finally pulled my finger out and bought the needed rod kit and Omega piston ($$$$) plus a pair of Black Diamond stainless steel valves. I'll now pass the engine over to my dear old mate at Franks Cranks to balance and assemble it and I hope to have it up and running for this years HEAVEN Roy East Pre 65 series. All I have to do is to now find a pre 65 sensitive rider to punt it around for me. I was inspired by the pre 65/250 class cat the Nats and reckon the Ducati would be more than competitive in the class.

Thanks boyos, yeah, even I reckon she's a thing of beauty, but there's a few things that need changing so five days into 2014 I've already blown my "one bike at a time'' new years resolution by deciding to make a start on her while working on my 750 flat tracker. I need to sort a better back mudguard mounting arrangement, make a proper airbox and to pimp up the Cerianis. With the right test pilot it might just be competitive in pre 65/250 in Port Augusta. The engine's got some serious go fast work done to it by Mike Green at West Coast British in the USA prior to my owning it and the previous owner Brian O'Connor was successful in AHRMA racing on the East Coast with the motor in a stockish frame. One thing for sure, I'm not making the same mistakes with this bike that I made with my Cheney by taking it in unsorted condition to the Nats. I want this bike to go as well as it looks.

I don't think so.....it's a VMX bike John....not a kitset pre 2014 bike. 8)

Bloody top effort Firko :) I'd be tempted to put it back in the lounge just to look at like a beautiful painting. well done

Thanks for the nice words, now all I have to do is back it all up with a decent performance from her. While Googling this morning I found this beauty, a Cheney Ducati 450. This forum's Dave (Water Blaster) Mac has an identical bike purchased from Leon Roach in California but has never been seen in public. While mine's pre 65 legal, Dave will have to enter his in pre 75 because of the 450's 1971 factory release.

Good on you Firko.... There's only so long you can look at a lounge queen before the need to ride it takes over. See if you can wrangle a plsstic tank for it though. It would make a grown man cry to see that work of art get dented and scratched.
