Taking orders on 1975 Yamaha YZ 250/360B pipes. These pipes are obviously one off pipes and are built to mimic the look of the OW12/13. The lead time is usually about a month, so please plan accordingly. They will cost $400.00 and include muffler.

wrote to Scott - he is currently looking at postage options for overseas.  It may be that he makes the stinger separate and a slide on affair so that the whole pipe can fit into a standard post box.

The 'OW' pipe shown above looks very much like the Pro-form YZ250-B pipe on my Cheney RT1 and the pipe on my 'DT1 from Hell' built by Peter Reynolds in 1992. The 'Professor Pete' pipe is a lot fatter in the middle than the Proform and has a tapered header but the layout is very similar.

So the 250 and 360 pipes are the same shape are they . That's good if they are as Im hoping to run a RT2MX motor in mine till I get the 250 YZ motor built , looking at a Gaspro kit for the damper . Iain

I see that Pro-Form list separate pipes for the 250 and 360 but when I asked the guy I bought my Pro-Form pipe from (on Swapmeet) he explained that he raced both 250 and 360 YZ-B's and reckoned the only difference between the two was the stinger and a slightly different shaped rear cone. He told me the pipes were interchanged with no noticeable difference. I had to cut and shut the stinger , trim some fins on the RT2MX head and modify the header so it would fit the RT1 exhaust flange but it otherwise fits like a glove on the Cheney frame. You'll no doubt find the same problem with the different exhaust flange arrangement between the YZ and RT2MX Iain but it's a fairly easy fix.

Iain - in the meantime - coz of what Firko is saying - I have recently sent a YZB header pipe to DC for fab of a replica one.  Can have that sent down to you to check it out if needed when it is finished with?

It's not the angle of the flange to pipe header being different, they're exactly the same. The difference is that the RT2MX header slips into the bolt on flange while the YZ slips into the actual cylinder casting and is a 2mm larger inside diameter....which is what prevents the pipe slipping into the flange. The allow the YZ pipe to fit the flange I brazed a smaller diameter pipe inside the YZ flange and voila! it slipped into the RT1 flange like a cock into a sock.

Scott has come back and said he has had a lot of interest from Australia straight up - maybe 5 pipes.  Is anyone interested in being the receiver of a single delivery and then send out from there - if it saves postage?  I am overseas so cannot do it?

cheers

Rossco

OK, I have unwrapped the pipe and it is a Circle F one, lovely made pipe and muffler (a shorty so cant be used). Put me down for one Ross, they can be shipped to my workshop if you/we do a bulk order. If he can make longer mufflers that would be a bonus as those shorty's wont pass the 95db limit. It may also be cheaper to not have the stinger pipe welded on, just marked where it goes. let me know, cheers.

thanks Joan - will talk further with him over the next few days,  Scott said he is going to make the stinger a slip on version and because of the impact this has upon mounting is looking at how to mount the pipe better at the front end of the bike.

I can take a pickie of the Circle F pipe/mount if you like with my phone if someone can put it up. I can take a picture of my YZ250A with the PFR pipe and the front mount which uses a genuine common as muck Yamaha mount. The easiest way to hold a longer muffler is to use a clamp that goes around the frame then hooks up to the centre section of the muffler.

Gents - latest from Scott.

I am finally ready to go into production on the OW 12/13 pipes.  I built the prototype to use in a display bike for Legends and Heroes Tour.  The pipes are based on Yamaha specs along with a little modern know-how.  These pipes will be designed for easy fitment and ease of mounting with easily obtainable mounting brackets.  Here are a couple of pics of a real OW and my finished product.  The pipes are 400.00 US and I will need a 200.00 refundable deposit for each pipe requested.  Thanks   Scott

I think he means non-refundable deposit and:

The pipe will be complete with mounting.  I meant to imply that we may use late model parts for the f isolators.  The OW has the same one that is used by the A and B models which are no longer available.  Trying to do this with little or no frame mods.  I don't want to drill holes or weld brackets and you probably don't want to either.
We have designed the pipe to be a two piece   ie. the muffler and rear stinger will be one piece and attach at the rear cone.    It will fit in a box better.   I'll also want the displacements of your order as the 250 and 360 will be slightly different in the cone lengths.....Scott
