dead dog racing have a 1985 yz490 for sale. its got a disc front end...i was wondering if someone could tell me if this bike would be pre 85 eligible ? i know the j model had a different shock mount/ linkage to the k model. but did the l model change the shock mount and if its legal for pre 85 racing ????????

The 85 n model YZee is not legal for pre 85 racing but considering its the 490 model and there were not many changes
from 83 onwards you might be able to race it if you stick a drum brake front end on it and not tell anyone  ;D.

I don't know why people even ask the question. The class is PRE 85, plus the fact that the bike is different to a 84! Also a L model is way different to a K model

Just ride it in pre 90 mate and you'll be fine.

I've got an "84" XT600 Tenere disc front end up for grabs if anyones
Interested in doing a legal pre~85 disc conversion.
That'd be forks, clamps, hub with disc and full brake assembly...
