I just found this neat pre 65 Cheney 750 Norton and thought I'd post it as an alternative for those not interested in the pre 95 discussion going on elsewhere. I'm also aware that there are those not into pre 65 as well but I think the cool set of pipes alone transcend all eras.

Very nice bit of kit , a welcome diversion. Luv the pipes and the exit , some just can see something and build it to look functional but unique.

Pretty sure it's titanium from what I can see. Whoever made them certainly knew what they were doing

Be criminal cruelty to put a "muffler " on the yummy beast. ;) :)

That is one very sexy motorcycle Firko. Good to see you couldn't stay away 8)
Funny enough, I was thinking today while I was tinkering on the B44 project why there aren't many solo Nortons....and I come on here and get to see one! Spooooky.
There are lots of lovely bits of craftsmenship on the Cheney. Take a geek at the work put into the sprocket...and the chain guard...and the oil filter set up.....Beautiful stuff.
Those titanium pipes sure are a work of art as well. There were some serious hours put into them. And I thought Kel Amberdsons did some nice work....well he does actually, but with stainless.
I reckon it would be easy enough to make up a baffle to slip up the end of the pipe if, and only IF, it had to be done. That way it would ruin the unadulterated look of them.

I had a few encouraging PMs so I'll just try and avoid confrontation. With regard to the pipes, I'd have thought that with them pointing straight down, the earth might baffle the sound a little. I also wonder if they are Ti pipes...perhaps they're ceramic coated. The ceramic coated pipe on my Ducati has similar look.

That's the go Mark. I nearly got inflamed by (I think) the same person last night so I logged off instead. I won't be here for arguments.
I dunno about the pipes being ceramic coated because it looks as though the welds are still exposed. Either way, whoever made them is an artist :o

I get a bit tired of being made out as Mr Nasty all the time. I'd much rather swim with dolphins than drown with sharks 8).

That sounds very Zen like....master ;D ;D ;D Now all you need are some jelly beans and a rainbow to appear!
Just ignore the knockers and let them (him) have their say and don't bite into the fight. I think that's what they want...

The BSA twin being raced over here has a set of genuine ascot pipes on it, they have baffles in the ends but look like straight pipes so it's definitely possible

Bike is from Texas. Bob is currently building up a 500cc single to go along with the 750. Pipes are stainless steel.
