Title: Eligibility for Pre 90
Post by: KTM47 on November 18, 2013, 04:55:28 pm
In the MOMS for the Pre 90 classes in says "Acceptable for Pre 90 class are machines and components built up to and including the 1989 model. The only exception to this rule is where the model remains unaltered after this date."

What I would like to know is what changes were made to the CR 500s after 1989. eg 1990, 1991 etc models.

It's gonna be hard to pick those things at scrutineering..

Saw a 90 model in the pits at this years Conondale classic.
The white frame and 500 stickers on the swingarm are a dead giveaway  :)

Seems you can hide it if you put enough effort in. The worst kept secret is that someone has actually done it up here.

To make it easier for scrutineers I think we will be asking for VIN numbers on the entry form for next years Post Classic Nats at Echo Valley. Unfortunately there are those that have to push the boundaries. Having done scrutineering at the recent Classic Nats, you have very little time to look at every bike, it's amazing the bullshit they give you when you ping them. ::)

Finally .. you come up with a bloody good idea :)

I think your suggestion has real merit as it would help stop the cheaters (but not eliminate them) and also sort out those complete idiots that genuinely show up with the wrong model bike :)

And it shouldn't be that hard to implement although it would create some extra work for the organisers and we all know they need that like a hole in the head  :-\
