Hi, DT1 piston port rod is about 5mm [guessing] different top the reed valve rod [DT2 on]. By memory the 'reed rod' is shorter but might be wrong. Might be able to do a comparison on the net somehow, i'll see what i can find out. DT1 thinking back is a 214 rod. Think the RT1 used the same rod despite a longer stroke--sorry, getting off track.

From memory its a #214 rod kit your chasing. Pro-x can supply
One from a later YZ250 that slips straight in...

there's a 214 rod on ebay shown as a 431 rod in the listing 18113361, $250 gosh--research it more i think to be sure 431 is the same just incase it's not. Other option i think i'd do [being a tight arse] is if there's say a 5mm longer rod--cheap as and common from a later yz or something, then i'd make a base plate. Or [don't tell anyone] i'd spin 5mm of the top of the piston & run the second ring only--nahh i wouldn't do that, probably not enough meat anyway through the middle. Did it to a 600 sidevalve aerial [ariel?] at work in the 60's jacking up our faithful sidecar pick up bike--one kick & it went 'poof' & fell in--damn.

thanks a lot, yeah, spinning sounds adventourus, but the baseplate might be a solution.
maybe anybody has some more info?
has anybody tried something from pro-x? dt-1´s are not listed there anymore.

The 214 rod was used in many Yamaha models for over a decade. The rod and kits are often found on eBay.
Here's on in the UK...a tad closer to Germany ;D. Cheap too.

the ones on eBay are for a 250s ,nos has 498 stamped on rod ,the rod with 214 stamped on is the same as yz400d ,don't know if it fits other motors but it is defiantly rare and not the same as these cheaper copy's .
I have heard a rumour that there is a later model 250 con rod that can be used ?
the kit that is on eBay he doesn't show you the rod part numbers ,he has worked out which rod it is .

Just remember guys the piston port is different from reed motor so if he has a DT1e motor with ne reed vlv he needs a 214 only the later ones with have the piston hitting the head . there was a long thread on this subject a Cpl of years ago . come in Firko or Nifty . Iain

thanks for all your help so far, since i´ve bought that doesn´t fit already i just want to be sure this time. can anybody confirm that this one will fit a dt-1? i found the info that 214-11651-00-00 is superseded by YAMAHA-431-11651-00-00, so i guess this should fit?

I would be contacting him as he mentions the dt 1 as another auction item but when you search for it the same one you have listed comes up.

Re: connecting rod dt-1

no this is not the right one ,I looked up the part no. for dt1 and it uses the same con rod as yz400d part no. is 431-11651-00
on the rod it is no.214.
I have just compared yz250 1984 rod which has 24y no. on it with a yz400d rod which has 214 no. on.it, the length and the widths are the same ,. the difference is the little end bearing size the 214 rod has a 22 mm hole were the 24y is 23mm, this is not a problem as they both have same pin diameter .The big end pin on these is 25mm were the dt1 pin shows it being 24mm so you would need to get these or modify to suit.  You would be able to use a complete conrod kit for yz250 83 to 86 which would come with suitable little end bearing THE BIG END PIN AND BEARING ARE YOUR ONLY PROBLEM.
This could be the option  in the yz400d and e and it 400,s

i might be off track [old age] but if i recall right my DT1 & RT1 [plus RT2 & 3--but not DT2 & 3] all use the 214 rod but the 360 has a bigger crank pin by 1mm therefore uses a roller assembly with smaller diameter rollers. Same may apply with gudgeon end [can't remember], whereby, if your pin's too big [or small] by say 1mm then a different diameter bearing might be available to sort the difference. Thanks.
