Title: Super Hunky's 500 Maico

This model is arguably the best of 'em all, imagine an '81 490 on steroids. All of the suspension dramas of the '82 were well sorted by the time the '83 was released and the reed cylinder and geared primary drive smooths the sports smoothest motor even more ;). An added bonus on this bike is it's celebrity owner.

I doubt it'd be a dodgy deal....Rick's a pretty decent bloke who would lose a lot of his immense cred if the deal was bogus. I think the price reflects the piss poor US economy and Ricks need to offload the bike rather than anything devious.

As the Maico guru can you tell me if the crank still rotated backwards in this model once the chain drive was replaced?

The Crank rotation changed to a forward motion when they moved to the latter spur-cut primary drive.

Firko - was't insinuating it was dodgy - looks like too good a price for a really nice bike - however know what could be read into my commnet.  It looks inviting.

Just what Mick De said. He's the real Maico guru  ;D.
The change in engine rotation gives the bike a totally different feel to the earlier chain primary bikes. It's not better or worse, just a totally different vibe to what you might be used to if you ride early Maicos. Slake, you know too well just how good this model is after racing mine a few years ago. That's the one bike I shouldn't have sold.

I suspect that bike in the pic is a sample because it has an ohlins shock in it, not a works performance
