Forgive my poor photo taking skills, but finished my 84 RM500 last weekend after what seemed forever to restore. I've tried to to keep it close to factory as I could (some parts you just can not get anymore for money or worth). Nearly all bolts are S/S allen keys(Cushion levers are NOS bolts), NOS guards, NOS cables, PFR full system, resleeved back to standard bore(Greg Ball Engineering), polished swingarm/cushion levers, rebuilt shock (thanks Jas), NOS bearings, chain adjuster, seals etc through out. A big thanks goes to Jason ( D Project) without your help and knowledge mate it would have been alot tougher to get done

Looks great,well done.

Great work mate. A lot of time and effort put in there 8)
-
Yeah, great job mate. You should be proud of what you have achieved.
I did not see any before shots of it but you told me how flogged out it was and how much was missing.
Well done for taking it on and sticking at it, I am sure there were a lot of expletives used in the process ;D
Been a bit of a learning curve for both of us on the 84 500.
Think you'll be the go to guy on that model for info now ;)
Not much longer and I will have my D project done ;)
-
I am pleased to hear there is some collective knowledge on this model.
Because guess who has a 500E project in the wind?? ;) ;)
-
She was just a pile of parts, didn't think to take any photos of what I started with. You remember how bad the rear shock was Jas, times that by whole bike :o, no rear wheel at all, flogged out cylinder, no piston, forks-forked could go on but you get my drift. The hunting down of parts is what took most of the time and getting them right to fit my bike...

I have a spare set of NOS inner and outer RM500E/F chain guide plates if you need some more NOS ?
-
Wow, nice job. What a tough looking bike those 500's are. Well done.
-
Great job Dono, don't the bikes from that era look like sway backs compared to todays styling?
-
Bretto's, looks amazing mate, great job! Definitely a man's bike! Will you get it on the Dirt tack or is it just your mx ride??
-
Super nice job Dono! It will motivate me to get some pics of mine up! WELL DONE.

-
Looks awesome, Great job
And are a beast to ride, I have the 250 and 500 from 84
Can you tell me where you got the paint for the frame from, is it the original blue as my 500 has the worst pastel blue paint touch up :-[
Cheer

Hey Bret, that clutch arm on the motor is that right?
Looks to be on the wrong angle and a different style of cable :o
-
well done ;) how did ya go sourcing parts as I want to put a 465 into a sidecar?
-
Excellent work Brett. I'd be wanting to ride it at Nepean first up, (if it ever comes back on-line this year) to get a feel for the POWER. Should make the 125 feel like a raleigh 20...... with an old guy pedalling it. Where ever you ride it - enjoy.
Cheers Chris

Awesome rebuild and a great looking end result imho!

You've done a brilliant job Dono.....I'm not a Suzuki guy but I'd own your bike in a heartbeat. There's something 'worksy' about the RM500.
