 Hi all..

  Just wondering if anyone would know if a 1984 YZ490 shock would fit the 83 YZ490 ??
 
                       any help would be appreciated.............regards glen.

I think it does fit, but its a shorter shock on the 84 model.
In 84 they changed the length of some linkages, allowing for a shorter shock.

I could be wrong, maybe someone can verify this.

"I know nooothing" about YZeds....

but ol mate has one so I will see what the experts say.. his is a "K" model and I think the shock needs a service

I just put a 125k and 125L together and all linkages and shocks are completely different lengths . not sure about the 490 but I would check part numbers first .hilly

I found a handy PDF file giving "Overall- All-Length"  (OAL)  shock lengths,  for a lot of dirt bikes at the Works Performance website.

YZ490K length  =  19.63 inches

YZ490L length  =  18.13 inches

Whilst a good guide not accurate.

It lists YZ125 D, E & F all the same length. They weren't. D & E the same, F shorter.

That said it should be more accurate on later models.
