Title: YZ250H Bits
Post by: Cabmkr on September 26, 2013, 09:49:27 pm
I was wondering what people are using for new throttle (and cable) and also the tube from the intake to the YEIS box. Heater hose seams too big and not flexable enough, I was thinking the clear braided hose. The throttle tubes I have are cracked and broken at the end (i was thinking of fixing them by cutting the end clean and grafting on a good end with a thin layer of fiberglass) And the hoses are of course hard after 32 years.

Cheers, Chris

Not sure about the boost bottle hose but the throtle tube is easily replaced, go into any bike shop and have a flick through MCS catalogue and you will find a new replacement item under the yamaha section. Shouldn't be anymore than around $19.95

The problem with the throttle tube is it is a bevel gear and the cable attaches to the gear on top not the throttle tube so likely the std spec cable will be too short.

Sack the whole geared throttle and change it to a std yamaha throttle on YZ/IT K-L, the G/H throttle is stupidly expensive to buy replacement parts for and take way more effort than should be required to twist on power!!

Ditch the standard throttle & use a gunnar gasser with venhill throttle cable from vmx unlimited, I can't remember the cable number but Les does list & stock the correct one. That's what I run on my 465H

I made a throttle tube out of aluminium a few years ago. Was quite an operation as I had to cut the gear as well. Now I own it forever.
