Ted, this will always be the case on the DG online shopping website. The trick is to set your alarm for some stupid hour of the morning and call them direct. The actual shipping USPS is more like 80-$100usd, I got my IT200 pipe and muffler delivered to my door for under $300!! But that was a couple of years ago. I can't see Alister maxwell being a lot dearer than that web price (with actual shipping costs) to be honest, might be worth checking he's got what you after in stock as well, but as we all know if he doesn't have it there at the time then don't waste you patience ordering from him!!

Maxwell's are the Australian DG distributor, if you ring DG in the states they will tell you to buy from Maxwell's. That's why they will charge you outrageous freight costs to encourage you to support the Australian dealer. You should get a better price from Maxwell's than you can from the States, if he has what you want.
I have bought a couple of pipes from DG (dirt overstock) in the US around 2005 and you could get a pipe and silencer shipped for $60.00 back then.

That's not the response I or others I've known have received at all...

That's what they told me the last time I tried to get a pipe for my IT.
That would have been around this time last year.
What response did you get from them?

Something to the effect of "thanks for your order sir"  ;D

I know Maxwells are the distributor. But after waiting 6 months for a pipe ( that didn't turn up ) and over 18 months for a rear guard for a YZ 465 ( that I paid for and is still not here) I will not be ringing him for any parts.

They don't have a problem selling to you but they will charge through the roof for freight.

I read somewhere on here that there is a company in the states that will buy and accept goods from people who wont ship out of the US and then forward them on to Australia.
That might be an option, that way the freight within the US might be reasonable from DG

We ship to Australia daily. Typical shipping on the DG pipe and silencer is around $85, just depends on the model.

Take the time to look on dc's website. He has lots of parts. You get great service as well.

We try our best. Most parts are in stock. Sometimes there is a week or two delay. However, most companies over here are dependable. Pro Form is take your best bet. They don't give any time estimates on orders. TerryCable can take up to 2 months as well to fill orders. DG has been very good lately. I guess that's all part of the vintage game. With small quantities, everything takes a bit longer.

Wiseco is really killing the vintage scene as well. They continue to discontinue vintage pistons. On most of the vintage stuff they are requiring a quantity build of 12 pistons.

Hey Ted,
Send Tom at DC an email & he will sort your DG pipe for you quickly & easily. It's all too easy in fact, most  suppliers could use a lesson in customer service from DC.
Cheers,
K

You were right BigK.

Email sent 7pm Answer received 4am the next morning.

Am placing a big order early next week after Buladelah ride, that way I will know what is needed. I have not ridden this bike as yet.

He certainly has a very large range of stuff. DC plastics are not just plastics. I never knew.

I bought 2 DG pipes from DC about a year ago.  (YZ250K and IT490K).
Good people to deal with and worked out a lot cheaper than anywhere else at the time.

I would definitely buy from them again.

Got my stuff from DC today. I stuffed around a bit getting my order together but once Tom received it, it arrived on my doorstep in under two weeks. I absolutely detest buying from overseas but when the distributor here goes AWOL, what do you do?

Don't take any notice of the shipping costs on the DC website.

The web quoted $825 for a DG pipe and silencer shipped to me.

For $918 I got the DG pipe and silencer,4 x air filters, front and back chain sliders, 43mm fork boots, graphics decal kit, yellow number backgrounds, PFR wide pegs, front guard, both side covers,  headlight shroud and shipping to my door. This guy has a very large range of stuff.

Another good mob is www.smebike.com in NZ. He custom made me a gripper seat cover with logo ( DC can't logo, some legal thing ) rear tool bag with logo and a tank cover with logo. He made this stuff and had it on my doorstep in approx two weeks.

I had no problem ringing smebike and discussing my order and DC answer emails overnight.

I would highly recommend both companies.

After reading these posts I thought I should let everyone know that my experience with Maxwell Motorsports has been excellent.  The first time I dealt with them was last October when I bought a DG Pipe & Silencer from them and it arrived (in Melbourne) within a week.  Then just last Monday I ordered a set DC Plastics from them and it arrived today (4 days later).  Each time I've used their website to place the order and the delivery timeframe given was 5-10 days.  I haven't tried ordering something that they didn't have in stock, but none the less they've been great to deal with.

That's good to hear. See if you can wrangle the 81 YZ 465 rear guard that i paid for out of him. He sent me a 125 guard that I sent back to him. Nothing came back my way. If you can get it out of him I will let you keep it ;D Best of luck.
