Hi lads,
I have stripped down the wheels off the CR250 RG i am restoring, as i have to send the hubs off to the wheel man....
Can anyone please tell me if the hubs on this model were always a matt finish, or were they originally a gloss type finish?
I would like to get them looking how they should before getting them laced up etc...
Thanks in advance,
Geoffro

I would say they are a satin finish.

Hrmm Satin hey, i wasnt expecting that.... could be tricky...

Satin.
I did one in gloss and it looked wrong.
Most of the aerosol satin blacks are glossier than the hubs should be - but the matte blacks are far too flat.
Any decent painter will be able to get the right finish by adding a matting agent to the paint.

Thanks for the reply Nathan, i wonder if i can get close to the colour by getting them powder coated.....

Get some Wattyl Woodstove. It is a nice satin finish. It is a hi temp paint, so bake it at 100c for a while and it will be very durable. It's good stuff, Bunnings or Mitre 10 should have it or be able to get it.
