Ok what to do with the old girl . The story is she was bought in late 74 and seized in early 76 then put in the back of the shed (farm) not to see the light till today . http://s1134.photobucket.com/user/Iain_Cameron/media/007_zpsee0e048e.jpg.html http://s1134.photobucket.com/user/Iain_Cameron/media/011_zps1f3ae7e5.jpg.html http://s1134.photobucket.com/user/Iain_Cameron/media/012_zps16832ecb.jpg.html http://s1134.photobucket.com/user/Iain_Cameron/media/014_zps4f123a4f.jpg.html

I think he lied to you, looks like he stored it under a pier!! ;D ;)

Leave it how it is. Cover it in CRC and just look at it. I love it.
Cheers Grahame

I'm jealous, yours is a 175, i only got an HT1 90cc in that [or worse] condition. You'll have her running by the weekend [i did]. Think my pics are up here somewhere. Good luck.
-
Looks like mine is under [my rat bike's rustier than your rat bike] maybe i started that one!! by the looks. Just love seeing bikes like this turn up & then get them running after many years. The driving force being--someone saying, 'you'll never get that going'. Use mine pretty much daily down the road to our bit of land [any excuse to ride it]. I'll never restore mine but best of luck if you intend to do yours.

I swear it followed me home .
No it didn't,,, you heard the sound of the sirens of the three tuning forks and couldn't help your self, could ya ;D
Come on, you can tell us. No one except us and the world wide web listening :)

Well I do have this thing for homeless Yamaha's and it looked so lonely just sitting there rusting away , I thought I'll take you home and rescue it . Its not the worst state of wreck Ive brought home . :-[ Iain

Well I could not resist , I started on her last night . Believe it or not but the rust is all surface under covers or eg the seat base is rust free not even any spots looks like brand new . Ok the motor is a one off special from Yamaha , one piece no moving parts . Looking through the stash Ive found a pair of good fork legs , front and rear wheels with good rubber , a tank , TY head light and tail light , a MX175 pipe . mmmm Vinduro . Iain 8)

My first bike I ever owned that went....CT2....use to kick back and smash the idler gear all the time....also got my first speeding ticket on it.

This is the CT3 that I turned into a trials bike. Felt a bit bad about cutting it up as I had one when I first got my licence but this had been sitting outside for so long the left hand handlebar had rusted through. All the chrome was gone so it would have been a costly job to restore it, although I'll probably regret it one day.

Yeah Davey, I worked at a Yamaha shop after school and spent half my time assembling new CT2's (they sold like hot cakes) and the other half of the time replacing the kickstarter shafts, crankcase halves and clutch covers. Great bike though, as that was pretty much all that went wrong with them.
