Just spent the arvo watching On any Sunday , Still the greatest movie ever made .

Agreed. Never get tired of the "mile" footage. Another good show is "Britown" by the Hell on Wheels mob, check it out. Talk about living the dream! J
-
For some reason I have never seen it :o
So to correct this grevious oversight, I just bought one on the epay and hopefully it will be here before the weekend as I'm home alone and can sit down and watch it uninterupted :D

I'm assuming your talking about "On any Sunday" Bishboy. Chances are you will never get the soundtrack out of your head. Enjoy. J

Next time we're about to get into a knock-down, drag-out fight on this forum, maybe we should watch part of this movie to remind us what old dirt bikes are all about! 8)
That reminds me, I haven't watched either 1 or 2 for ages. Might have to do that soon......

Spot on Tony. I've never seen 2. Any good? J

I got my love of American style flat trackers from watching On Any Sunday. Good idea Tony.....it certainly evokes the spirit of off road motorcycling.

It's just OK Jerry, not within a country mile of the original though. It concentrates more on Speedway (Bruce Penhall) and road racing but it's worth a look.

I reckon it's pretty much as good as the first, I think mainly because I saw that one before I ever saw number one and I've got great memories of sitting up half the night watching it over and over when I was young.
Anything with Malcolm Smith in it can't be bad. ;D

must be the kiwi jumping the fence for Steve McQueen

If your referring to the "great escape fence jump" your both wrong, it was performed by Bud Ekins and he is American.

Yeah the old "Who jumped the fence" debate ::). What Bazza and I are referring to is that Tim Gibbes the Aussie born Kiwi resident racer from the fifties is thought by many to have been the person that actually did the jump. He was also working as a stunt man on the film and the pro Gibbes supporters state that the guy doing the jump doesn't look like the 6' plus heavily built Bud Ekins but is more a rider McQueens size and build which Gibbes was. When I asked Tim Gibbes if he had done the jump at CD9 I thought he was going to job me and refused to talk about it, adding more fuel to the theory that it was him. I love a good conspiracy theory ;D. For what it's worth I think it was Gibbes on that Triumph.

Normally its the other way around :P :P :P :P You don't hear of this happening often :o :o
-
Yeah Gibbsy was in the Klub kevlar tent having roast pork and refreshments and was not impressed being asked
-
And to add to the discussion, true or false/urban myth. The Triumph was used as Fonzie's bike in Happy Days, the actor (Henry Winkler) only tried to ride a motorcycle once and crashed. ???
RIGHT OR WRONG.

I've heard the Fonz one as well. J

People talk of Steve McQueen, Mert Lawill Malcolm Smith and Dick Mann being the stars of On Any Sunday but my favourite is Kookie the Wonder Dog. I'm trying to teach Reggie Kookie's technique but he's not getting it.

"Desert racers are good people"

And don't think for a minute that Kookie just bummed around at the back of the field........
My favourite Kookie shot.
Man, machine and mutt in full flight! ;D
