Anyone here remember the CR's that Woody's Motorcycles Wyong Rego'd and sold in the mid eighties??,
I would like to get as much info on them as I can and even possibly get my hands on one ;D, surely most of them would have survived concidering they had compliance plates on them, all or any info would be appreciated.

There was one on evilbay not long back, sold fairly quickly.
-
yep i remember i live near woodys and my sons mate works there i have one of the bash plates they use to put on the crs it fits my 250 re ive been through all the old bits they have there and its the only thing i could find
-
finding good ones might be hard,a mate had one 89 i think he wore the bike out then remove the comp plate and rego d his newer cr.
-
I seen one on sunday while trail rideing if i see him again i'll ask him if its for sale. :) looked abit rough though.
-
they would have made excellent enduro bikes i would say, especially once with power valve to smooth things out. anyone own one/ride one?
-
Exactly what I was thinking, After rockley on the weekend I am ready to get a "84 and enduroise it anyway, that was the most fun I've had in years... ;D ;D ;D

i know i have an article or 2 on WMW CR's/road rego'd CR's from the 80's so i will start looking through my stash of magazines over the next couple weeks.
-
There were definitely a number of articles on them in ADB in the mid-late 1980s, including Clubby buying a 125, and the four converted 250 MXers riding across the Sydney harbour bridge.
Never seen one in the flesh. For all the publicity - and apparently decent sales figures - at the time, they seemed to just disappear. Ditto the BTX converted KXs and the handful of complianced YZs.

well you can understand letting an old mx'er go to pot in the backyard, but one with the magical compliance plate - that's criminal waste!

About 10yrs ago a mate bought one (86 mod I think?) to enduro/trailride with us. It went ok but was a little old when compared to new KTMs & RMX Suzuk's for real hard trail work. It vibrated a bit, but brakes were ordinary and general suspension didn't work that great. We thought it'd be the bees knees for hard trailbike but wasn't really. Maybe she was a bit tired, he didnt keep it long, and went to a '95KTM. (One bike that was a trail weapon was the '97? Yam WR250 - a bit too zappy, unless you were on a deathwish.)

I got a CR500E, great fun to ride to the local milk bar on !
-
i remember the WMWs and a bloke in our club way back then used to race one in both mx and enduro's.
i thought the 87 was the first WMW? did they do them earlier? and later?
nice bikes

A mate had a WMW CR500 a few years ago and I used to think it was the coolest thing until I borowed it for a weekend trailride with the boys. What a pig it turned out to be. Too much engine and too rigid suspension had me exhausted after the first hour of a two day ride...and let's not mention the fuel economy, or lack of it. It was a hell of a ride on the road though.

i know they did them in 84 on the 250

In 88 I had a very fast Honda CB125n ;) and i'm sure it was not the only CB that entered the 4day that year. The comp plate came off before I sold it.
