I'm on the mend as well! See below.
I would like to thank my family and facebook friends for their concern and support following my " mishap" two saturdays ago. I was walking my dogs early Sat morning,
arrived home and decided to mow and trim the yard. I then went inside and didn't feel so good and layed down on the bed. Felt ok after an hour when the door bell rang and I jumped up to answer it. Last thing I remember is reaching for the door handle. I then remember waking up on the floor and not being able to move my hands or feet! After laying there for about 1/2 hour, I was able to slowly move and was able to crawl to the phone and call my daughter for help. All of this took over four hours to accomplish! Could not walk without help and my left side was gone! Was admitted to the hospital Sat afternoon and started doing heart testing right away (stroke?) After two days of heart related testing, they did an MRI that revealed nerve damage in the spinal cord in the neck area (2/3/4 vetabrae) They operated the next day. Made room for the compressed nerves and installed a steel plate. I should see a full recovery, but it's going to take some time. I have numbness and am using a walker to get around, but each day is a little better. I am lucky, it could have been worse! (broken neck) I really want to thank my daughter and boyfriend Paul for all the help and support they have been giving me for this trying week.

We had no idea you have been ill Jared. Hell that would have been a very scarey experience. What a shocker.
Glad to hear that they have found the root cause of the problem and hopefully you will make a speedy recovery. Bet it was very stressful period for all concerned.
All the very best for a full recovery and take it easy mate.

Thanks Montynut Going to take some time, but I'm optimistic. I will never laugh at that commerciall where the lady is on the floor
and say's "Ive fallin and I can't get up"......
-
That must have been a pretty scary experience Jared. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. As serious as your experience was you can be thankful that it wasn't a stroke. Ain't getting old a ball of fun? Remember when we used to be bulletproof ;D?

The most annoying and frustrating part is probably that you got injured and you weren't even having fun riding a motorcycle - what a waste of an injury!
Get well soon!
-
Been riding cycles since I was 12. (just turned 63) have had some ups and downs, but never an injury like this! Go figure. Should have been wearing my helmet!
The doctor did mention accumulative nerve damage over the the years even with helmet use. Said I would have been back to see him in the future!

Hi Jarad,
Hope you recover fully ,nothing better than a good daughter when your in need. Jeff.

I'm getting there! walking is about 90% writing skills 85% sore as hell! Ironic that I have ridden everything on two wheels since 1965 and never had a serious mishap. I guess
most accidents happen in the home! Neck brace comes off in three weeks.
