I've only ever seen bikes "racing" as part of the Bankstown motorcycle show at Easter time, oh, and the Ivan Mauger promoted meeting when Jay Springsteen rode his Harley flatracker. Don't know what was going on today????

I was there and even cut a few laps myself, 100kg on a crf150, very ugly and very sedate.
A dedicated and persistant group of DT tragics are in negatiations to hold a few meetings there hopefully next year.
Today was pretty much to do some noise testing and monitor track damage.
The bad news is that young Matt Thorne killed TH's Rickman Jawa and Temora now looks unlikely.
I have to say that he looked super impressive on the old girl but maybe 25 laps at full noise in top gear was too much.
Fingers crossed these meetings become a reality.

slidz.....having had a few slow trotters, and done a bit of work on the track ive never seen bikes there before either only 0n good Friday.they normaly have two midget meetings there a year which are limited speed events to save the track surface.but due to the upgrading of menagle and the selling off of Harold park the harness industry is feeling the pinch as well.i have a few beers with the president of the track and they are open to all types of events as they have the lease on the land till 2034 and are trying to survive also, it was the original bankstown showground we used to play footy in the middle.if I can be of any help pm me we can go straight to the source...cheers..jim..

Yes Vern Grayson, Doug Aitchison and I all rode Triumphs at that Bankstow meeting on the full oval. It was great.

Re track damage, they pulled a section of the fence aside at the start of the back straight to allow an "off track" start line, thus avoiding digging holes.

You may have noticed that one of my pet hobby horses (no pun intended) is getting a real grasstrack meeting going on one of the MANY under used /disused horse racing facilities around this country. Great to see others actually there!!!!! Very well done!

there are ways of promoting it.it is a council facility to be used by the community,as you say the insurance side of things might be a bit tricky but there are still kids using it some arvos with ponies and sulkies so long as they are in helmet and vests...cheers...

"Biggest hassle Track Licencing"  Son that is a pain in the arse for sure! But it is only one major hurdle of quite a few. I have been at it for over a decade... and finally given up. To start at the top (Don't forget MA is not the top)  Every bloody State and Local government department wants to have their 5 minutes of glory/shit. Cheers Tim754

According to Pinkys swap meet site, there's a Flat Track Masters coaching day at Bankstown trotting track around noon on the 11th January, free entry to have a look.
AMA professional racer Sammy Halbert will be coaching and doing some demo laps.
