Has anyone else struck any problems with missing items through Aussie Post of late?
I've been sending out the DVDs from Harrow and as of this morning, I've had to resend 6 of them due to people telling me they haven't received it.
It's a bugger because of the cost it adds, but I think I'll have to consider not sending any more unless it's by Registered Post. :-\
Just when I thought I might make a profit...... :D :D :D

yes my passport failed to arrive then showed up a week later
-
Yep Tony i agree it is a problem it could be a contractor / split delivery / cycle issue though
I only send things i have sold on ebay registered it is the only option to ensure it gets there
(PS I havent got the TSX Manual Yet ) ;D :P

Something seriously gone astray. Just had another call saying it hasn't arrived yet.
Out of 31 packages, 7 didn't make!!! >:(

Mine arrived without problem. :)

Parcels at the $6.95 range (small parcel under 500g) have a tracking number assigned as part of the price. For less you may have to charge the $3.95 to track. Easy answer Tony - charge more for post! :o
-
All the prepaid satchels now have tracking as standard Tony, sign on delivery is optional, did you get tracking numbers with your receipt or peel off the barcodes when you posted them,if so you can go on the Aus post website to track them, problem is sending so many which barcodes are the missing ones, the best way is when sending lots of items is to keep a short note IE, barcode #12345678 sent to J citizen, then if it is a no show you only have that one to look up,I know a bit about the subject ;) give me a buzz if you want to know more 0418 274861

Nup. No tracking on them.
They did explain why. Something to do with being done as a batch as opposed to individually.
I didn't think for a minute that there'd be a problem, so I didn't argue.
Regardless, it seems like an awful lot to go missing............ ???

Never have I lost anything I have sent, and never has anything been lost coming to me ..... in 54 years! Maybe you're doing something wrong with your address labelling?
-
The Postie arrived just as I was reading this and he delivered this empty envelope that was supposed to have a throttle cable enclosed. This is how it arrived.

Hmmm..... maybe there's a VMX enthusiast working at Aussie Post. ;D
All my packages are labelled the same. Via computer with very large type so there's no way a mistake could be made. I've never lost anything before either which is why this is so weird.
I took a sample to the P.O. with me this morning and they say it's perfect, so shouldn't be any problems with the postie reading the address etc.
btw I just rang them and found out that they are sent as a large letter, which has no tracking.
Bummer.....

only trouble im having is the flucking thing I got from Germany was all screwed up to get it in the letterbox, now its damaged and has a rip in it

There's no excuse for that Paul, if an item doesn't fit into your letter box it's the posties duty to either leave a card and take it to the post office for pick up or to knock on the door and hand it to you. That's just laziness, not wanting to get off the bike.
I'm blessed in having two really great long term posties. Kris the Sri Lankan parcel guy is such a nice bloke, always willing to help. Last year when I was wheelchair bound I asked him if he could leave any parcels just inside the front door. He not only did that, he'd often come further in to see how I was going and would (unofficially) take my outgoing letters and parcels to the post office and mail them for me. He's become so regular..(I get a lot of eBay parcels) he now sometimes stops for a cuppa and a chat....usually about his passion cricket. He even helped me sell my black Jag XJS to a mate of his. My other postie is a lovely thirty something blonde girl who has no problem getting off the bike to drop the odd larger package off personally. She has the happiest disposition and has always got a smile for everyone....I've think I've got a bit of a crush on her ;D.

Most of my ebay purchases are delivered with no problems. I have become good mates Kerry the delivery guy over the last 3 or 4 years he brings the parcels up to me in the workshop if he sees the door open or puts them into my little hidey-hole if I'm not home. The mutant postman who delivers the letters is as thick as pig shit. It doesn't matter how many times I tell him he still folds my VMX magazines in half and jams them through the letterbox slit even though I have a cylinder on the box made specially for magazines.
Frigin dead loss he is.

Heads up on Aus post, have had two packages go astray. Both had tracking one was sign for. Put in complaint 3 weeks later they get back to me. The big package(no sign) was in my meter box. Who the F*ck looks for there mail in the meter box? The second a very valuable document was under my door mate. Went off the deep end about It, was informed that there has been a change in policy there is now what they call safe drop. I.E. if the delivery guy deems it safe to leave he is to leave it. As for the second item(sign for) his excuse was he thought he better leave it as it looked important an I might want straight away. The outcome had to get a second document as I needed it straight away(now have 2) and purchased a second part for the one I thought was lost( thankfully was able to return) But I out of pocket big time. Aus Post response don't care delivery guy did ever thing right. I am still pursing it further up the line. Now use private couriers when I can and when I can't delivered to an address I know there is always someone there.
Curly
Sorry for venting my spleen.

I am most likely luckier that major city/ suburbs residents living in a small town (984 residents if ya take in the ones in the cemetery..) . I know where the local post people live, the post office... ;) They do put themselves out regarding delivery and security.
Then again it was yours truly that some twenty years ago setup and converted the local mail delivery from bicycle to motorcycle, so perhaps the fat bugger still appreciates not having to peddle a bike... ;)

Tony, gaskets arrived early tis morn, all good this end mate ;),cheers :P
-
Sounds almost as good as NZPost Curly, a workmate had something delivered to the wrong PO box opened & missing parts & when he complained they told him that the postie can ride down the middle of the street throwing everything in the air & it's not their problem as long as they've been paid for the postage >:(
I get parts for my trials bike quicker from the UK than locally & the longest part is when they hit the country, normally they're in Auckland the next day & it can still take a week to get here which is 1 of the main sorting centres now

I had a negative Oz post situation today. I purchased a Rex's Speed Shop Yamaha CDI unit from a seller in the USA on August 6 and forgot all about it until a couple of days ago when I noticed that it'd been a while coming. I contacted the seller via eBay and he passed on his end of the tracking, indicating it left St Paul Minnesota on August 8. I rang Oz Post this morning with the tracking number and they told me that it arrived at the Penrith Delivery Centre on August 10th and distributed for delivery on the same day...........BUT....it never arrived. After a well tracked trip all the way from the US, it's gone missing between the Penrith delivery centre and my letter box. Naturally, there's SFA I can do so it looks as if I'm $128 down the gurgler >:( >:(.

I got a big box of Renthal handle bars (6 sets) and the same on Magura lever sets from Weekend Warriors a few years ago, UPS box that had been opened and all the lever sets gone and 3 sets of bars....postie did a runner...ie, dropped the shit off and left before anyone could have a look. Rang the Post Office, told them the story, there reply was....take the parcel and whats left in it to the local Post Office, fill out a form, leave the goods there, they will investigate it (was told it takes months) and then they MAY cover the missing items if THEY think it was tampered with at there end. All the while I have no goods that I had paid for......what a farking scam.....no wonder there claim rates are low.....no one is going to give up there goods while they "check it out". That postie never came back. I'm always careful to tell people what to write on the parcels because obviously some of the thieving pricks can read whats inside and help themselves!!!. I have just had a part not turn up from Canada.....hopefully I get a refund.....pissed off....it was a hard to find part.

Thats a real bummer Curly, Firko and Davey. A real big pissoff for Davey Crocket.
I got ripped off with this

Wasn't the post though, it was a sack of crap seller called Jurgen Beckman from Plattsburg
He said he sent it. It was disputed in Ebay. He couldn't produce receipts or tracking info. He then said the post returned it because it was a fuel tank, but still unable to produce any documentation. I have had plenty of others from Germany, no problem.
He was ordered to return the funds to my bank account.
He Didn't.
I am down $240.
It stressed another forum member who helped me. but its ok now ;D and he was never in doubt ;)
Paypal only from know on or cash on pickup. It is your only aces when dealing with a piece of shit.

Firko - exactly the same - minus a set of reeds and an MX400B NOS airbox for my YZ - Aussie post say delivered - nothing??????

That reminds me, I am inner city, house built to the footpath.
I came home one day, brand new chainsaw virtually sitting on the footpath! With "Brand new chainsaw"
written all over the box!!
Fuggin Idjets
Just a lucky day I Guess ::)

If you must be having to label your parcels ... label them 2nd hand toilet fittings... they always turn up at the delivery point intact.
To the gent awaiting a postal item from Canada, Canada postal are unfortunately very renowned as being expensive ,slack, suspect and incompetent. >:(and SLOW!!!

Our (S. African) postal service got soo bad that I would not post an article of any value anywhere in the country. It peaked (low point, rather) about 5 or 6 years ago when the surveillance cameras caught the postal workers red handed taking stuff. When they were prosecuted, the unions called a strike. Hardly confidence inspiring stuff...
Since then, someone's got with the programme and the difference is like night and day. Post office is now open 7 days a week. Parcels arrive, still closed. Tracking numbers work. It's not perfect but it's starting to get back to an acceptable service.
Last month, I did a rod kit swop with a gent in Melbourne, OZ. Parcels were sent both sides, with tracking numbers and both made it in about 3 weeks. Postage cost for me was about $15. Not bad at all!
Regards
David

I sent an $900 Ohlins shock as a local COD thinking that the COD service was pretty secure. The thing disappeared after it was tracked to the distribution depot. Bear in mind, as I found out the hard way, that COD parcels CANNOT be tracked unless they are also registered! Whats the COD ID # for? How generous were A.P to offer $40 compensation >:(. I got all paranoid about accepting the compo in case the parcel showed up and I'd have to argue ownership with AP. Thieving pricks.
I agree, DO NOT write anything descriptive on the parcel or documentation.
