It's the crap leftover after the good stuff evaporates ;)

my 'rusty' rat bike HT1 had '1981' on the rego sticker & petrol [i think] in the tank. drained it into a capped container then flushed & flushed. Still stinks so bad that i've parked it [tank] well away [& used a plastic XR tank till [forever!!] Be interesting to know the chemical break down of 'what & why' etc. Think i've said before somewhere--we had a farmer whose farm tank was where the wind blew right into the breather of the tank [biggish one up on a stand] & twice his AG100 came in not starting & the fuel came out looking like orange drink. Can't remember the outcome but must've moved the tank in the end or kept fuel in a tin for the bike. Was an exceptionally windy farm up in the ranges where they now run the wind turbine power thingys.

it oxydises, that's why it breaks down, and a bike tank is always vented . so 1st evaporation then the oxygen gets at it.
