Just wondering if anyone has a manual handy and can tell us how much fork oil to put in from empty on my 1977 yz 400d
Cheers Al.

338cc oil 15w 182.5mm down from top with springs out and forks full compressed.

I run it about 140mm from the top down keeps the fork a little higher when you let the brake off and stiffens it up a bit.

Couldn't get any 15 wt oil got some 10wt from shop still feel bit springy no real dampening feel to them even taken out to 140 mm down from top, just wondering if u can run a few psi in them or if I should just drain them out and chase up some 15 wt fork oil to put in them
Cheers AL.

As I understand it if you want more damping you will need to go to heavier oil. Oil level effects spring rate as the forks compress and the trapped air acts as a spring. Level does not control damping. Cheers
