Post by: cumagutsa on August 22, 2013, 01:04:41 pm
I have a rm125 1976 im restoring and was wondering if there is a list anywhere that says what is originally chromed and what was zinc plated.

I can't think of a single thing that was chromed on the A range :-\  all zinc Tm/Rm-s had some chrome IIRC

yea i thought so. At some stage the foot pegs,  kick starter and the brake lever were chromed.

Out to the blaster i go.    Cheers

Check with Doc, I think mostly Zinc and some parts like the steering stem bolt and hardware on the triples were actually nickel which looks a lot like chrome.

Fork legs and shock shafts were chrome. The rest was zinc plated.

thanks heaps for the responses,

its my first resto and im doing it mostly myself (budget)

but yea I have found its had a enthusiast owner at some stage that's been a little chrome happy.

im considering anodizing the rims yellow and top and bottom triple clamps yellow just for a bit of bling, is this taboo or is the only way to go a full nut and bolt resto.

its going to be a poolroom showpiece, with the the possible rev up after a few beers, all comments welcome,

Its always a good thing to start a two stroke occasionally inside the house. Good way to start a blu with the missus. At least you have comfort in knowing that you really did do the wrong thing instead of just getting framed for it...

It saves on paying to have your house fumigated or at least that's what I've heard ;D
