I recently purchased a Kiwi made version of this set up (bottom photo). I've seen a similar home made angle iron set up on Pancho's RT1 too. I got the Kiwi activator to try alongside my trick Joan Crocket and Son billet beauty.

I must say those things are but ugly and dodgy looking....especially if you put one on a YZA/B.

They certainly are John, I wouldn't put one on one of my "nice" bikes, mine's going on my DT1 rat bike. There's also the problem of adding a sprocket cover to pass scrutineering. They're good in their simplicity though...having no bloody worm drive is always a good thing.
