Title: Shipping Bikes to Australia?
Post by: Tahitian_Red on August 13, 2013, 07:51:56 am
I'm thinking about putting a few of my bikes on the block and I might open the bidding to you folks down under.  When I sold one of my Ossa Phantoms, to a forum member, awhile back it worked very smoothly.  Payments were made through PayPal and Shoreline's shipping container was about an hours drive from my house, but that conduit is no longer available.  I'm not too keen on traveling down to Long Beach, but if it was for multiple bikes that might be worth it.  So, what are my options?

Australian company called Motorcycle Express ships out of Santa Fe Springs on a reasonably regular basis and are priced very competatively in our market.  How far from you is that?

They also handle all of the paperwork so as a customer, it's a 1 stop shop deal  8)  Best of all, the owner Lloyd is an extremely helpful guy.  For anyone here that wants to use them Lloyd's contact phone number is 0422028505.

Santa Fe Springs (7 hours) is just slightly closer than Long Beach.  Of the 4 bikes I'm thinking of selling only two would have California ownership titles.  How tough will that make it?

Not having a title might stop a few buyers but I have previously bought a bike without title before and shipped it no worries.   There are legitimate ways around the title issue and Lloyd knows a guy who, for a small price, will look after the missing titles for you.

Or..... you can remove the engine and box it and send it and the roller as a parts bike. If Simo's guy Lloyd can't help you I can give you the full run down that won't involve a trip to Long Beach, my shipping guy has a bloke who runs all over the west coast. He took our bikes from Vegas to Longo for a couple of hundred from memory. What are you selling Jay? Not the RT1????

Firko,

I'm thinking about selling one more '74 Ossa Phantom, the Can-Am MX-6B, a beautiful '88 Honda CR250 and either the Montesa VR (in boxes) or my '78 Husqvarna 250CR.  If the ticker quits again I can't leave the wife with too many bikes and parts to sell.

I think there might  be a few miles left in the old chest pump yet Jay.  As soon a anyone mentions the word Phantom half the vintage population here cracks a woody. It should be an easy sell if its priced right, ditto the VR with slightly lesser wood.

Paul,

Here is the Phantom.  It will be about $3K US, but I have two people in line here in California.  This one does not have a title.

Dead Dog Racing in Brisbane Queensland will bring them in for you. They ship out of LA now, I shipped with them when they were in Seattle. I was very happy with them and they can sort the title out as well. they did do it for free, but think they now charge a small fee. Cost me aroung a $1000Aussie to Brisbane.
I was very happy, did all the paper work, i only had to get it to their depot.
here is their link for all the info, ring them and have a chat.

Here is a teaser pic of the '88 CR250.  I'll clean her up good and have more pics when I post it for sale on eBay.
