Anyone used one of these quick shades from Torpedo 7, they've got them on special for $149, but after seeing the carnage at CD9 didn't know if these are any good or not ?
-
They only get destroyed if they are not tied down properly. Need to be pegged and roped. They were extreme conditions. Better off pulling cover off if wind comes up to much.

No experience with Torpedo brands but I can tell you no brand of quick shade was ever going to be able to cope with the winds at CD9 last year .. in fact the huge industrial one the organisers were using as the main tent also bit the dust such was the ferocity of the winds.
Of course we were tucked up nice and snugly at the Black and Gold at Wallerawang so missed all the fun on the hill ;D

cd9 wasn't windy, I must have been sleeping 8) or drinking red wine

Have had 1 from torpedo7 for a couple of years, seems ok so far but haven't used it in high winds. Having the sides is great in wet weather

I think the order was drinking red wine .. lots of it .. and then sleeping like a baby Trev ;D Your ute smelled like a brewery particularly after your mate spilled that red ;D

Stewy, There is only one brand of shade that can go the distance. Altegra is the name. They advertise them by hanging a MX bike off the ceiling of it. I have had two of them for the last 7 years with no problems at all. Had two them up at CD 9. What wind?
Those cheap arse ones fold in ways if you tie them down.
-
There not to good if you tie them to you ute and drive off either ;) ;)
-
Thanks Ted. And yes Snowy, I'm pretty sure the tying to the ute is a fair stress test.

I have had a genuine Australian made Quickshade for 18 years.....it went tumbling once when I forgot to tie it down....still perfect after all these years....they might not be what you call cheap, but they are the best.

Not any more. Check out Altegra
