Title: Firko's Bargain of the week
Post by: firko on August 03, 2013, 10:28:16 am
Anyone who's been searching eBay for a suitable alloy tank for their Brit motocrosser will know how expensive these have become over the years. An average condition B44 tank will cost you $300 and up these days, with primo versions going for $600. This was my screaming deal of the week for $60 ;D. It needs a little welding and TLC but I'm capable of the fix.

$60 is a great deal.
Looks like it has had some heat and attempts at repairs on those rear sections, have you seen any underneath photo’s?

It looks pretty good underneath Geoff. After the nice job you did on my Cheney tank you might still get the repair job mate ;D. I'll wait until I see it in my hands before I make a call on the next step.

Looks good underneath, I was just worried that with those half hearted repairs they may have butchered the underneath

What the fork is wrong with this Dave? Is it too hard to preview before you post? Surely you must know a primary school kid that can spell check it for you.

I paid a bit over 130 landed for mine but sold it on as I didn't like the "breadloaf" shape of those tanks. I've yet to see a gp style tank on ebay and the repro ones from the uk are at least 400.
For some reason the indians are reproducing the road going "bread loaf" shape instead of the gp style
Having said that I wouldn't buy one from there I can't imagine any part of the transaction would be hassle free

I thought that too Paul so I gritted my teeth and took a punt and bought a set of handlebars from Royal Enfield's eBay site. Not only did I recieve them in less than a week, I was also pretty impressed with the quality. Using that experience as a baseline I then bought a pair of alloy motocross mudguards from another Indian seller and once again I couldn't be happier with both the product and the shipping costs and time.
Sometimes jumping outside of the circle can produce some unexpected joy. ;)

I've been told by a bloke who bought one that these Indian tanks are pretty nice. I haven't actually seen one live yet but they look the goods in the photos.
