Title: '1974 TM400 on Swapmeet
Post by: firko on July 30, 2013, 09:40:47 am
OK, self harm addicts, this is the deal for you. This big boy looks pretty well unmolested and the price is pretty bloody cheap. $2k with change landed.

I'm game particularly after reading in another post on taming them with added flywheel weights as I want a pre 75 open bike.  Looks like a very original and unmolested example.  I've emailed the seller and will wait to see his response to my request for assistance with local/internal shipping.

Good one Simo.....it looks pretty clean and very original. The only non standard parts I can see from the photos are the Honda Elsinore shocks and later era front mudguard.  Everything else seems pretty kosher.

Yes I noticed those as well as the rear guard but those are easily fixed.  Do you have any contacts regarding internal shipping from Oregon to Long Beach?

So there goes that idea .. the seller flatly refusing to "Sell anything to Australia".

I didn't realise I had taken on the status of a Country ... I know if I dropped the "ry" off country then that might describe me according to some but shit .. that's annoying.

Does anyone know anyone in the USA that could help me here??

1972 SUZUKI TM400 --UPDATE--

Tried to get it running the other day, but no spark. It might need a coil or CDI unit.

Very cool old bike, but needs some attention or restoration. The bike has good compression and shifts through the gears. I was told by the previous owner that it ran, but it has been sitting for a few years and I have not gotten around to cleaning the carburator out and trying to start it. But I will tell you what I do know about the bike. The oil injection has been removed. The shocks have been laid down. There is a small area where the chain took a small piece out of the case, but it is only cosmetic--no leaks. And the throttle cable will need to be replaced. The silencer also needs to be re-welded to the pipe. It does have newer tires with good tread and the bike also comes with a Don Vesco plastic desert tank and the original airbox as well as the K&N filter.

Would be interested in a trade for a 1974-1978 Honda CR125 Elsinore or 1974-1975 Yamaha YZ125 project or parts bike of same value.

Price: $600.00 The best way to reach me is my cell. 818.437.4796

Thanks
