Title: Fork Emulators Mk2
Post by: firko on July 29, 2013, 10:11:17 pm
I've got a set of Yamaha YZ-A 34mm forks fitted with Race-tech emulators and springs. I've lost the setup instructions I got with them when I purchased them from a guy on Marks Swapmeet about three years ago so I now need to know what oil to use and how much to use in each leg.

And before someone suggests the obvious.....I've forgotten who I bought them off.

BUMP.... I'm hoping to fit the forks and get that part of the deal out of the way today or tomorrow so has anyone got an idea of what oil and how much? Surely somebody's using emulators in their Yammy DT/MX/YZ 34mm forks?

Try 10wt and just go with 180-190mm air gap with spring out and fully compessed. Never even found the need to put a screwdriver to the forks after that.

I use 7.5 Belray in my YSS PD fitted Ceriani's and I use 10w ATF in my stock Maico forks so I presume ATF would be OK in the cartridge emulated Yamaha forks???

Thanks to all including the couple who PM'd me with their ideas.......everyone seems to be in the same ballpark so I've now got a fair clue. Cheers.
