Title: Undoing damper rods from 1981 DR250 Suzuki
Post by: jerry on July 18, 2013, 04:50:32 pm
I'm undoing the M8 cap screw at the bottom of the fork leg and of course the damper rod assembly is going round and round. I obviously have to hold at the other end. Can anybody help with correct technique or tool to use. I think it might have similar internals to the RM models. Thanks Jerry

The two above methods usually will work fine as long as they don't have damaged thread, or have been loctited by the previous repairer.

If they are stubborn? You need to knock up the correct tool.

The damper rods have female hexagon in the top of them, just pool weld a nut on the end of bit of bent bar.

Here is one I just made and used for my Yamuki hybrid.
