Round 4 this Sunday at Yanakie International Raceway Melways M628 B10. 2hrs 22 mins from Melbourne GPO. They reckon there may be a bit of rain about but I'm assured dont worry as the track drains very well. It has been groomed for the older bikes and is definitely one not to miss. The hard working guys from Corner Inlet MCC are ready and waiting with full catering from their world famous canteen. J

Gday Jerry. I'm trying to convince myself that my man flu will be gone by tomorrow and I will be at Yanakie on Sunday. The B50 and XL are well prepped and raring to go. Can I ask what sort of soil is the track? Ie; hardpack, loam, sand?
Cheers
-
Loamy sand I believe. Lots of interest it's going to be a good one. J
-
The weather might play a big part in it!
-
Well toda I rode two different tracks.. Yanakie in the morning and Yanakie in the afternoon! What a blast the evo classes at VCM are very competitive and no one was holding back today it was wild!
-
How as the track surface and the weather down there?
-
Weather first, no rain, was chilly and from time to time a stiff breeze, perfect riding weather ;D
Track, started off "well watered" from the heavy rain over the preceding days, was not muddy or even too slippery because the track drains very well, by mid-morning the track was really good and by mid-afternoon a lot of people were saying it was one of the best rides they'd ever had, there was a selection of lines and some fabulous wide well formed corner ruts that gave the slingshot effect, there are a few smallish jumps that were not there last year but they were quite okay, there are no stutters and the berms provide a real alternative to the tight inside line, and although I'm a rider who is usually one of the last across the line I heard plenty of the front runners saying the track was really good.
The highlight of my day was in the second last race, the pre-75 all powers over 50 age group, good line up on the grid, got a bit thick on the first two turns, second turn put Boagy down and as I went round him I thought "this will be interesting, wonder how long I can hold him off ::)", it took him to the tail end of the back straight and it was an education the way he rounded me up and then cut right across a couple of corners taking a fast but rough line that I never imagined anybody would ride and when I tried it on the next lap it was a lot quicker because it set you up much better for the difficult last corner, so I'm still learning, ha ha for all the good it does me.
Viper have a meeting at Yarram on August 11 next, anybody who can possibly make it who has an Evo or pre-85 or pre-78 (and I think they are running a modern class well) make sure you get there (and I have run my 74 husky in the pre-78 class, they don't seem to mind), it's a track that is not to be missed and the Corner Inlet Motorcycle Club are well organised and have a good canteen and the track is really good for spectators

Yes viper is at YANAKIE next month and should be a balltearer. We also have a post 90 2stroke class, pre 90 and the modern class.

Well I managed to survive the freezing cold and snap a few pictures. I would have to say that the racing in some classes, was the best I have seen for a while. Well done to all involved.

My injury update. Nearly disemboweled myself when I flew over a berm (my fault!) and to my horror realised I was going to land on a bloke fixing his bike from 2 races prior. Managed to hook my upper thigh on his foot peg. Down to the bone incredibly missed nerves and arteries. Luckily Dave Smiths daughter (ED nurse) was there and she kept pressure on the bleeding (thanks again Prue I owe you some new gloves). Treated by MICA paramedic who transferred me to Foster hospital they then decided I needed surgery so they on shipped me to Traralgon hospital. Called in surgeon and theatre staff who sewed me back together. I have no idea how many internal stitches but I will be ok. Many thanks to good mates Andrew and Matt who accompanied me to hospital then took my bike home washing it on the way. Put it back in the garage in its usual spot and even oiled the chain. Very classy guys! Downer this morning when I found out Dave Smith (Prues dad) also came to grief later in the day and he was admitted to the Alfred ICU with kidney damage and will be there for 6 weeks. Shit nights sleep last night with flashbacks. To be honest feeling pretty negative about the whole VMX thing at the moment. J

Sorry we couldnt get there Frank, really pissed off. Shaun flew in from Brisbane on the Friday night all set to ride, the two Maico's were loaded up in the truck Sat night but the old body let me down again Sunday morning, the old saying is, if you havent got your health you got nothing.
Sending best wishes to those injured riders and hope they have a full recovery soon. Track looked awesome.

Sorry to read you got yourself in a tangle Jerry. Keep ya chin up mate. It's easy to get disillusioned when you have a bad injury. It won't be long before you find yourself chompin' at the bit to get back on the bike....
Great footage from the helmet cam Frank....you made it look all too easy!
