My XR 250 RF 1985 cost me $1,700, which i brought the week they came out, then i remember around this time the pollys brought in a big import Tax and bikes went up by heaps around $500.00 dollars for a new XR 1985 RF before the next model had even come out, from then on bikes have climbed in price way to high, i reckon anyway.

I paid $1725.00 for a new RM250T in 1980 from Hollywood motors at Liverpool and 2 years later paid $1500.00 for an RM250Z from a Boat and Bike shop in Batemans Bay,where I had moved to,from Sydney. The owner could not sell it and every time I went in, he would drop the price trying to sell it to me-when it got to $1500 I couldn't say no-even though I had to borrow the dough at extortionist rates from AGC or similar-credit wasn't so easy to get in those days, was it!
